I looked in the FAQ, did many searches, but I did not uncover any instructions or other advice on getting any version of Thief to work on an intel-iMac. I know some have tried (via google) but I think TTLG deserves a FAQ spot on this...even if its not 'frequent'.
Or did I simply miss it.

Install bootcamp+Windows. No other reliable way to do it I'm afraid.

any particular version of Windblows I have to sell my soul for? (I stopped at XP)
Any other details?
edit:
will the FMs work too via bootcamp? DromEd?

As long as you're running native windows (in bootcamp rather than Parallels/VirtualBox) everything in the game should work fine. Thief is pretty well proven as working in XP, so if you already have that I'd go for it. It was originally designed for Windows 98, so if you have a copy of that you can try it out (but have fun trying to find drivers for that :p)

I've never gotten Thief running smoothly on any wine-based system, but if others have more power to them :thumb:
(offtopic: lol @ false statement on crossover home page "Running on OS 10 also means that even if you're running virus-prone applications like Outlook and Internet Explorer, you're completely protected." - as long as macros and vbscript are still enabled you still can get attacked that way... it won't affect the OS but they can definitely infect your install of Outlook)

Only T1 works with Crossover I beleive....

I personally would use 2000 if you can. "XP is the diet Coke of evil" because of the activation malware that will likely render it useless some day.
I bet you can get the games to work in Wine. I use Wine to play them in Linux and (with ddfix) it works great. Last I heard though, there is no opengl support in Wine on the Mac, This means you may have to use the software renderer.
Although there is no AppDB info for Darkloader on winehq, it works great for installing and playing FMs.

I think we already had threads about this here...
Thief 1, 2 und 3 run definitely under OS-X with CrossOver Games. T1+T2 are even pretty well playable. Important for all three is, that you use a program to deactive all but one of the CPU cores. Otherwise you'll have the usual multi-core bugs.

It's been about three years since someone wrote on this thread about running T1, T2, and T3 on OSX, with or without Windows emulation software.
I'm thinking about getting my first Mac to replace my dying dinosaur Dell desktop, and buying something for my oh-so-cool old Windows software titles I don't want to get rid of. What's the latest information on getting Thief titles, Darkloader, and my extensive FM collection to work on that Mac? I've been steered toward Parallel, but I've also seen Crossover mentioned.
Thanks in advance for the assistance, folks.
