Thief Object Repository revisit

Visiting the object repository now shows an error message that the account has been suspended. Has the website moved again? Or is there perhaps a similar website for downloading custom objects?

Yeah, I've been in the middle of working on stuff and boop, it's just gone. I personally have a good deal of the objects myself, but do not have the means to host a site or anything. Hopefully it gets sorted out!

Seems it disappeared like the Southquarter site with (http://www.southquarter.com/christine) Christine's objects, too. I've been half expecting this and put my own few objects on a seperate website to manage it independently (which recently disappeared with webs.com). :erg:

Fortunately the (http://thiefmissions.com/lpg) Low poly Guild still exists, but the DL can be tricky. Some pics are not displayed or you get a 404 if you try to DL an archive. That's mostly due to the file extension (ZIP instead of zip), so if a link like (https://thiefmissions.com/lpg/Jonquilis/blbottle.zip) doesn't work just have a look in the corresponding directory (p.e. (https://thiefmissions.com/lpg/Jonquilis)).

Also, the objects in this demo (2021) are newer than the ones I put on the Object Repository. They have higher-res textures and are mostly in .dds format.

Is anyone working on getting all the objects together in one place since the Thief Object Repository went down?

Doesn't look like it, though it's very hard to prove a negative. I think a solution requires multiple people donating to pay for the web hosting so that it's not one person paying for the whole lot.

Another possiblity is a torrent system so the site itself has very little size, which could allow for something that's free. This would depend lots of people hosting the files across many timezones to ensure good availability.

I can help getting them on Thief Guild.

Does anyone have all (or most) of the files, so that I can estimate the structure and overall size?

I don't have the files but there's a post from vincent on page 1 saying he got them when the first version went down, and they were 2.5GB. This was in 2021. We'd need access to a more recent SQL database to see what else would be needed, but I don't think a lot was added since the second version of the site was created.

IMHO it's not primarily a problem of server capacity, it's a question of enduring engagement. When the enthusiasm dwindles away after a couple of years (and that happened often enough) we face abanoned or deleted DL platforms again.

How about bringing the (https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=144469) Resources for Mission Authors thread up to date with priority?
