Kind of a wierd one - I've got it set up just like I did under the RC (in fact I just copied the directory straight over) - have NOT installed anything like klite (since I just play everything in VLC now)...
But whenever Thief 1, Thief 2 or System Shock 2 try to play a movie, it crashes to the desktop with a error in nvapi.dll (gee, nvidia drivers, big shock)... The movie format does not seem to matter as my VP7 'remixes' don't work either, nor do any other types of AVI (fan missions, T2X, etc)... No, ir50_32.dll does not fix it either, and I have ddfix set to setup lgvid.ax (I disabled it and tried manually with ir50 as well, no joy). Compatibility modes make no difference.
YES, ddfix is applied properly - if I load a savegame or manually disable the movies it works fine. It looks like it tries to change the video mode, which is when it crashes (which is odd since I thought DDFIX made it NOT change video modes?!?)
This has me puzzled because it works fine under an identical Win7 RC 7100 install... but under the MSDN 7600 - forget it.
For reference, hardware specs:
Q6600 CPU, GTX 260 video, 4 gigs RAM, Win 7 build 7600 (MSDN/RTM)
Anyone else seeing this problem yet?

I suddenly encountered this problem (crash on mission start, complaining of nvapi.dll) with an Nvidia card using Vista 32-bit. The fix for me was to temporarily disable my second monitor via the "Set up multiple displays" menu inside the Nvidia driver planel.
I typically play Thief, Thief II, and Shock 2 fairly often (especially now thanks to DDFix), though I guess I had never tried running the game with my second display active until recently.
I Hope this helps.

Ill bet as my dad would say "a pound to a pinch of s**t" that your using nVidia 191.07 driver - I googled these a while ago because I had been getting BSOD in win7 no less... go back to an earlier driver.

Just to update, going back to the 186.16 drivers did the trick - so Bikerdude had it right. 191.07 == /FAIL/ for videos in dark engine.

you could have just gone back to 190.62's but if it works etc.

Not to bump after so long, but 190.xx was /FAIL/ too...
But I thought I'd share with everyone that 195.62 works GREAT, so we have a recent/up to date driver that works with Thief+DDfix again.
Which is nice since I like the frame rate boost of the new drivers in Arkham Asylum. Will be more fun when I pop in a second GTX260 this weekend for SLI.
