The game looks really dark on my monitor that at time I can barely see and I have to squint,It also gets worse if I am not sitting straight up.Only Thief Gold and Thief 2 have this problem everything else is not affected. My monitor is a flat panel LCD.That's the best I can describe but help would be appreciated.

Turn up your brightness. And stop playing during the day. And get a better LCD monitor.

I am not playing in the day,I have no other problems seeing things on this monitor and the brightness setting on my monitor is fine on my monitor and I am pretty sure my monitor is good,I was wondering if it was a setting in ddfix or something I need to fix.

Pretty sure you can turn up the brightness in the game.

"Gamma Adjust" in the video options. You can also try setting ModulateShift=1 in ddfix.ini.

As you probably already knew, Thief is pretty damn dark, and is the one game that's most likely to show every weakness in your LCD screen. The whole having to set up straight to see the game thing is due to you having a TN panel LCD with a particularly bad viewing angle. The only thing you can do is up the brightness a little bit more than you normally would and seeing if that helps. Otherwise, there's not a thing you can do besides get a new monitor.

Surprise! Your monitor is cheap crap.

As Renzatic says, it's best to avoid screens which use TN technology (most, unfortunately) if colours and black blacks are important to the things you're going to be viewing on your monitor.
You can read more about this (

I have a low response time IPS panel and it's great for Thief, although the one I have has been discontinued so I'm not going to recommend it. Upgrade if you can, your eyes will thank you for it!
