As it stands the things that attracted me to Thief have either been eliminated or greatly diminished
I of course couldnt agree more. I noticed this a year ago when the first media blitz came out and was under attack for pointing it out. Or called a nutjob and whatnot. I merely laughed, because I wasnt blinded by the media blitz and clearly saw in those first videos that Garrett made the same amount of noise no matter what state of movement he was in, focus or not, and that was... absolutely no sound! Sound just doesnt matter anymore! And free form exploration too. Gone! We just dont need any of the classic elements that Looking Glass Studios spent their career attempting to achieve. The whole thing just stinks of a greedy irony.

The one thing I disagree with you about is the quality of voice acting in the video clip. New Garrett doesn't sound all that bad. A little low key maybe, but hardly terrible. The guards and random AI didn't sound too bad, either. From what I heard, I'd call it competent, if not a little melodramatic at times.
But let me add that new Basso is about obnoxious as hell, and the Thief-Taker General...yeah, there's no other way to put it, he was kinda bad.

Paper thin vocals, period. No meat on the bone whatsoever. The vocals in ancient Thief were so fat, you could live on them for years.

I'd say the biggest difference between me and you is a matter of perspective. I always expected nuThief is an entirely new game by an entirely new team, using the same source material to create their own version of Garrett and The City. Because of that, all the new changes and little discrepancies we've seen never bothered me as much as the people expecting a straight up Thief 4.
Honestly, I never minded the reboot aspect of this game. Quite the contrary: Deadly Shadows wrapped things up so nicely that I always felt a 4th part would be out of place.
I don't mind them using the source material to create their own version of Garrett and The City per se. It's just that what they came up with seems so damn boring and generic.

I miss Benny, but I'm not gonna say what I heard here was all that bad.

Eh. It looked pretty Thief-like to me. I do have some issues with some stuff, like the silent running and OMG LOOK GRATES CLIMB HERE NAO, but I thought they did a damn good job with the atmosphere.

There doesn't seem to be any Dan Thron's or Stephen Russell's attached to this project.
Its just terrible. Even if the writing was great, there is still no Thron, Russell, and all the other guys with the fat vocals.

Something is telling me that *looks* are going to be the *only* thief-like thing about this game!

Remember when we had that big discussion about how watching a video for a game wasn't nearly the same as playing it? Yeah...

For better or worse, we shall soon see...

Garrett moves silently on all surfaces. Towards the end at 16:30 after extinguishing the torch Garrett runs and begins parkouring. This was all done silently from the second he starts running and the first noise made wasn't until he grapples.
They said they had an issue with their capture setup, so some of the footstep sounds didn't end up in the video. So while I have no doubt that they have greatly diminished the players noise output, from what they say, this video isn't representative.
That said, this video didn't change my opinion of anything, so I still don't like what I'm seeing.

Squeenix releases gameplay footage of the training mission, game looks fantastic, TTLG complains anyway.
Didn't see that coming.

As a third party observer, I'd say the biggest difference is that you're not a total hopeless loon.
Or, uh, aside from that, you probably live in a world where something being different from something else that you like doesn't immediately make it inferior. Whereas some people seem to have some neurotic resistance to change.
