I think I figured out what I don't like about the new Thief.
Garrett of TDP is just a guy. He has no friends. Maybe a few people he interacts with, like Basso, or his fences. And he's not known in the city. He's not a hero. He's not famous. He doesn't have any special abilities.
In all these movies we've seen over the last year, Garrett has changed into a superhero. Very athletic. Makes amazing jumps. Sees through walls. He can suddenly fight. It seems people know him. It seems people expect things of him. Like they expect him to save the city. The music in the movies is pumping and exciting. Every second is packed with action. He's almost like Spiderman in a medieval setting.
For me, the Thief games were about sitting quietly in the dark. Watching. Waiting. Until the coast is clear. Nobody sees me, nobody know I'm here. Nobody even knows I exist. Except a select few, like the keepers, who have raised me. Garrett was an anti-hero.
I think this change bothers me more than anything else.

I see nothing that indicates a change towards what you're describing. Garrett's still an outsider with very few contacts or friends (Basso is seen in this trailer a couple times) and he still has the same abilities from before, like climbing abilities, blackjacking, a dagger or sword (are you forgetting you can SWORD FIGHT with Garrett in the original games?) etc.

I wouldn't bother so much, it's just a trailer. Trailers are always packed in action with exciting music - this is the way they are designed. You may not remember but trailers for TDP were the same.
Everything lays in good balance between lurking in shadows and action in Thief. We don't want too much action, that's for sure.

You're right, except of dagger or sword: Garrett won't have any of this in new game (still fighting and blocking will be possible).

Good points all around Gryzemuis. At this point, I almost think it would have been weird to have Stephen Russell voicing Garrett, just because this Garrett is so different than that one we know

Partly agree. But again, if T4 is like what we have in 1990s, modern gamers may not like it. The studio makes a game for money. To hardcore gamers, or to most gamers. They choose the second one.
And I want to add one thing: when I play TDP at the first time, I was stunned. I was so scared in the game that I even want to shut down my PC. Now, I cant see any horror genre in T4 anymore, sad.

Good trailer. I like Garrett's reply to the boatman's warning. :D
Tho I'm starting to feel like I've had too much of the story spoiled for myself already by watching all these trailers and gameplay videos.

Yes, this trailer was fairly good, albeit I feel the same as Henke. Also, my gameplay worries have subsided quite heavily after the gameplay videos - I think it looks ok from what we've seen, because it shows that you can be stealthy as hell still (of course, there's bound to be stuff to be negative about, but it's hard to say before testing it out). However I'm quite hesistant about the story, because from all the information we have gathered, it feels really really bland. I'm expecting lots of cringeworthyness and the deliverance of speech in-game cutscenes hasn't blown me away yet, the character's faces look fairly rigid and "un-life-like", which is weird since this was all supposed to be uberly mo-capped, right?
Oh well, I hope I'm wrong.

Watching the stream. All I can say is that the game is much worse than we thought.
...I'm going to give you a hint. There's a reason why the devs have insisted on talking all over the gameplay.
