Speaking of which, why do guards ignore each other's footsteps but react to Garrett's? How do they know so well that this is a sound of an intruder? :)
Nobody else wears tap-dance shoes.

But they do! Enemy footsteps sound exactly like Garrett's. Well, human AIs at least. Some beasties have different footstep sounds.

But they do!
Just like the sneaky Garrett, the guards *also* know their own patrol patterns. If they hear footsteps that they arent expecting, they check out the potential taffery.
And to hear the term tap-dance shoes again, which of course makes me laugh, is another throwback to the old days here, where we hashed out this question ad infinitum. :D good times

The missions that won't tell you how much loot you need for each skill level before you start playing them. Instead they will just say 'take this opportunity to steal valuables'.
That Benny's recurring sparring partner (played by Dan Thron) doesn't have a name.

On the other hand, they don't bother NOT hearing the footsteps they expect. None of them cares being the only one left patrolling the mansion with blackjacked guards in every dark corner. :)

So true! Lots of excellent points in this thread. At the end of the day, these complex topics always came down to good old "suspension of disbelief".

Yup :) Actually, I think it's better that having the guards alerting to each other. That wouldn't be fun.
And after all, Thief 1 & 2 even to this day have the best AI in terms of stealth in my opinion.

That you cannot easily find out what your current in-game playtime is, or what percentage of loot you are up to, while still playing the mission.

You can easily check your in-game time by saving a game

Checking the stats is bothersome, that's true.

This is a TDS feature. I don't want to know that
