Hey! I've decided to start this thread in hopes of getting the two quite major issues preventing me from enjoying Thief I and II. Here goes....
Issue I. I see all movies, cutscenes or otherwise, upside-down. This has happened to other games as well. I can open them with BSPlayer from windows and they work fine. I've looked for codec packs, downloaded the newest ones, but nothing. What gives?
Issue II. After an encounter of Issue I, I am brought, normally, to the difficulty selection screen which would normally take me into the mission, the game itself as it were. Here my screen goes blank, Thief stops responding and I close it via Windows Task Manager. I use Windows XP Professional, SP2, but I believe the problem resides with my vid card, nVidia GeForce 9500 GT. I haven't found any suitable drivers that would allow me to play Thief. Is it really impossible for me to play Thief? Please help me out.....

Issue 1 sounds wierd, maybe re-registering the video codec will help? Otherwise I'm out of ideas.
Issue 2 sounds like either the DirectDraw problem, or the error due to you having a multi-threaded processor. Either way, DDFix should help fix this.

Issue 1:
* Download and installed the indeo 5 codec - (
http://downloads.ttlg.com/download.aspx?id=2461) here
* Click start, then run and type the following " regsvr32 ir50_32.dll "
* Go play thief....
Issue 2:
* Hmm nVidia up to theirt old tricks, the 9500GT is just a die shrunk 8600GT. The latest drivers shoudl fix the problem your having..

Alright. Update time. Issue I still stands after Indeo 5 install. Guess I'll just start digging up codecs then. Issue II now. Ddifx gui version fixed The Metal Age, but not The Dark Project. Also, I installed the latest drivers from the nvidia website. Any more suggestions, please? :weird:

Getting one out of two games working is progress, so at least we're heading in the right direction :D
Apologies if this is a stupid question, but did you install DDfix in both Thief I and II directories and set it up in each? Also, you may have to manually hex-edit the Thief I exe - I found that the GUI version didn't work in my case. Have a look with a hex editor (such as PSPad) that the re-writing has occurred properly.

:confused:Errr, pardon my noobness, but my cam.cfg file in which I need to insert the 1024x768 resolution, doesn't have a game_screen_size line, so I'm really at a loss here. I'll try and redownload Thief I, maybe a different version will work.

Well, I have a new version of Thief: The Dark Project, and it works. I still have to view the briefings with a media player, but hey, c'est la vie. Thanks for all your support, guys!

Do you have the LGVID fix set in ddfix.ini, and are you running as administrator? Doing this has fixed videos every time I've tried it.
