Hey mates,
I bought Thief Gold from a yard sale and really wanted to play it.
But it crashes right after the intro movie. Like, as soon as it hits the menu, it crashes.
And I can't alt-tab out to change the processor affinity.
I'm running Windows XP Pro
Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0 Ghz Processor
Nvidia GeForce 8800GTX
Gigabyte P35 Mobo
I downloaded the alternative movie files so that I can actually watch the intro movie.
Then I as soon as it crashed afterwards I tried doing the multiprocessor fixes. I downloaded the imagecfg program and installed it in the proper folders and put the bat file in my install directory and put the whole
imagecfg -u THIEF.EXE
imagecfg -a 0x1 THIEF.EXE
pause
in it. I ran it and everything went like it should... but it still crashes right after the video.
The rest of the fixes I saw on there were just for the video fixes...

I'm not really familiar with dualcore patches and such, but have you heard of (
http://timeslip.chorrol.com/ddfix.html) ddfix? If not, you may want to give it a try. Apparently it has a dualcore fix built-in.:)

DDFix doesn't fix all problems for Thief 1/Gold. I can't play it either, but it has nothing to do with my Q6600. It's all about the graphics, in my case, 8400GS running 175.19. I have the same problem as others, menus work fine, intro video plays, but if I try to do the training or skip straight to the game, I get a black screen right after the loadout.
All DDFix does is force normally unsupported resolutions, multicore fix, and texture replacement. Nothing more.

And did I imply that it does anything more? No, I didn't... I was merely suggesting he try it because the dualcore fixes he tried don't work and ddfix has a dualcore fix.:)
