I'm trying to install thief gold on my laptop, but it keeps freezing during the installation. I'm running windows vista. Does anyone have any answers to this problem? Thanks!

Perhaps this is a stupid question, but did you actually search before posting?

Second, more information is needed than "it freezes." What version of vista do you have? What method did you use to install thief? etc.

I checked that link and tried the forced installation like it said, but it still freezes during the installation. I am running 32-bit windows vista ultimate edition.

It freezes at the 7% marker. I am still able to use my computer, but the installation screen freezes and is non-responsive.

Interesting.... When I tried to install thief on my friend's laptop, it would get to 100% and then freeze. (except I don't think it was non-responsive, it just hanged... yes, that's the word not frozen.)
Have you checked out anything from my previous post yet?
It just occured to me that it might be a dual core issue. Are you running a dual core PC?

I tried the manual install. Copying the files from the cd caused my computer to freeze. Weird. How can I check to find out if i'm running a dual core system?

Actually, I think I am running a dual core system. I went into task manager and checked the affinity. CPU 0 and CPU 1 were both checked. Just tried changing the affinity on the install process, but it won't let me. Says access is denied for it.

Sounds like you have a scratched or defective CD, sorry.

I agree. Copying files shouldn't cause your computer to freeze.:(
Do you have any large scratches on your disc?
Yes, you do have a dual-core system. It never even occurred to me that it could be your CD that is the problem here, I apologize. If it's not the cd, we can continue troubleshooting.
