Hello fellow Taffers and Tafferettes,
I get the following message when trying to install Thief Gold on my computer:
Quote:
This product cannot be installed on Windows NT due to a Microsoft DirectX (tm) limitation.
Any pointers? My computer is a Pentium Quad-core, 2.6 ghz, on Windows Vista 64-bit. I successfully got Thief 2 and 3 to work, but not the original.
Thanks for your help.

The FAQ is your friend :)
setup.exe -lgntforce

You can try to run setup.exe with win2000 compatible mode.

^^ That won't work because Windows 2000 still reports as "Windows NT" to the installer. The -lgntforce will get around this without using any compatibility mode.

I not use -lgntforce ;)
win2000 compatible mode for setup.exe works fine for me.

Hi.
Simply put Win98 compatibility on the setup.exe file, and it should work fine.

IIRC there are problems when you set compatibility on the setup.exe in some cases for Windows Vista and Windows 7. Is it really that hard to run setup with -lgntforce?
But if compatibility mode works for you, more power to you :)

Hmmm...I don't know about Vista or 7. In XP I know for a fact that it works fine, because that's what I use.
