Thief 1 (Gold) suddenly doesn't run properly anymore on my system. I last ran it a year ago I think.
Today I loaded a savegame but it just gives me a black screen. The same when I click on a "start mission" button. The 'load'-clock starts spinning, but stops and the game locks up.
Windows (XP-SP3) totally freezes and even 'end process' (thief.exe) in Ctrl-Alt-Delete doesn't respond. I have to reboot my machine.
I tried installing older drivers for my Radeon HD3870 (Catalysts 8.4/9.1/9.2), but they all have the same problem.
The strange thing is, I can almost swear that catalyst 8.4 ran Thief Gold fine before.... Does anybody know if something else can ruin Thief gold in Windows XP?:confused:

The best thing I can suggest is to goto the thief general discussion forum and check the faqs. I hope this helps! :thumb:

I got fed up with all the ddfix / catalyst / compatibility modes combos and just reinstalled the game.
Yay, Now it works again. No ddfix needed. :D No idea why it didn't work. Darkloader must have messed something up with some fan mission.
