I have now applied the newest TFix on a Thief 1 Gold install (english language) that was already brought up to v1.27, but which did not include many of the additional packs. I now selected everything as Chewbubba mentioned in his post. The question about whether I wanted anti-aliasing turned off I answered with "no" since it was the less secure choice. Then I loaded up Chewbubba's quicksave, walked along a bit further until the mission ended, proceeded to the next one, but neither in the loadout screen nor while loading the actual mission did I get any crashes. The objects available for purchase, especially the mines, looked a bit different than they usually do, so the EP of that TFix version is active.
I don't have a clue about what might be causing this problem.

so the save is not corrupted. hmm. try to start a completely new game and ctrl+alt+shift+end yourself to the Thieves Guild mission again?
do you have the game on GOG, or steam?

I have it on the original CDs.

What file(s) actually have the map for Thieves Guild? I'm not familiar with the files for the game, but maybe the file(s) is/are corrupted and I need to replace it from the CD?

shouldn't matter as TFix replaces them all.

That's it! Problem is fixed!
When I installed Tfix, I must have got the directory name wrong. Inside my Thief folder was another Thief folder. I had copied the movies out of the subfolder into the main folder after I installed it because the intro movie wasn't working.
I read your post, and then it occurred to me to look in the subfolder again. It had more mission files than the main folder. I copied them from the subfolder and pasted them over the files in the main folder.
After that, all worked as it should!
Thank you all so much!

weird because TFix should not permit install if no exe is detected. must have managed to fool it somehow. and I bet the mission file was completely misplaced/not in any resource path.
note to self - if strange issues occur, always ask whether the install has been tampered with manually first.

lol
Yeah, it was weird. All the mission files and the movie files were in C:\Users\me\Documents\THIEF\THIEF\
Makes me wonder how missions 1-4 worked at all.
