I just put Thief Gold on my new computer and I am experiencing a problem where Thief Gold crashes to desktop whenever I hit the quit button. In other words, istead of going to the main menu screen when I hit quit, it instead crashes to desktop with a miscrosoft error report that the program had to close. Has anyone else experienced this particular problem before? Given all the errors that can occur this is a particularly minor one, but still it would be nice to fix it if anyone has heard of it before.
I am running a dual core system, but this is not the same problem as the one mentioned in the FAQ where the system freezes when running a dual core system. I experienced this problem every time both before and after I ran the fix that Salvage wrote in the FAQ, so it appears that this is an unrelated issue. I would be surprised if I were the first person that this happened to so I am guessing at least someone out there has experienced it too and may know what is causing it.
Here is a little system information from my DxDiag file in case you need to know. Thanks for the help.

Try to disable hardware sound acceleration in the Thief menus, and set video to "Software" there as well, then try again. If it does not crash anymore, it's either a problem with sound or video (which means with your video card or its drivers). By re-enabling only one of both, you can find out which one is the problem, then.
If hardware sound acceleration is not possible, just play the game with hardware sounds off. It's only stereo sound then, but unless you're absolutely addicted to EAX environmental effects or 4.0 sound (that's two front and two rear speakers), it really does not matter.
If Software mode for graphics solves your problem, you will get rather ugly graphics and should look for a solution. This could be a new driver for your video card, an older driver for the card, or maybe even other things like DDFIX. Try the FAQ (concerning graphics) if you have not done that before, and if you still can't solve your problem, post on the forums again. Oh, and try to use a resolution of 640x480. That was a standard resolution in these ancient times when Thief was born...
If turning off hardware sound and selecting Software mode for graphics does not work, post here again, tell us what's up, and hopefully someone will still have some idea about it.
