I'm running win 7 64bit home premium version with a ati radeon 5750hd card,
processor is a amd x620.
I've got thief gold to install and I used the thieffixedgold exe which I download from here when I was running it on win xp as that was the only way I could get thief gold running. I've set the compatability mode as win xp pack 2, I can get thief gold running but after 1-2 mins it just freezes up do I need to set the core affinity to one?I have tried to do so but it comes back as saying the operation could not be completed access denied! is there anything else can I do to get it running with no problems? the driver version for the card is 8.681.0.0 dated 24/11/09
any ideas?
I've also tried the multithreading idea under the faq's still freezes after a min or so!
the target path reads
C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C start /affinity 1 thieffixedg.exe it starts, but freezes up and only gives me the sound after about a min.

WIN 7 is completely new for THIEF players. Do a global search on the forums for both Legacy and Technical for Win 7.
There have been a few posts about using windows 7. You might, and might is the operative here, find something that will help.

The best way to get rid of both texture memory error and multicore issues is to use (
http://ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121449) ddfix. Chances are that ddfix installer won't work on 64-bit Win-7, so you may want to gownload a prepatched exe and copy other ddfix files manually. Make sure that MultiCoreFix parameter in ddfix.ini is set to "1".
To get rid of "access denied" messages, you should install Thief to any folder you have full read/wite access to (such as D:\Games, not Program Files) and run any patchers with administrator rights (right click -> Run as Administrator, even if you're logged in as admin).

Seems like wrong working directory specified in the shortcut. Check that the Working Dir field is pointing to a folder where thieffixedg.exe is placed. But you don't need this command trick at all if you're using ddfix with multicore fix enabled.

harleygjc: Perhaps, your multi-core problem can be solved by using a very small and pretty simple (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127533) FlipTIB utility. But if you wish to improve Thief Gold visuals, you should use DDFix as
DJ Riff said.

Now I can work on thief 2 and 3 later on! hehe

harleygjc: You're welcome :). But please remember that sooner or later you'll need DDFix to run Thief 2.
