Thief gold and metal age freezes upon startup

I am having the type of problem with the "hanging" or no response on both thief gold and thief metal age. I cant get :30secs into the first scenes on both games and they will freeze with no response. I have to do a hard shutdown on my computer. This has to be a glitch that can be overcome somehow. Can anyone help please? Thank you.

Sounds like the multicore processor issue, which is easy to fix. Check the FAQ in this forum.

This is the first time I have been on these forums and I was/am a big fan of this game. I don't think Assassins Creed could keep up.
I tried re downloading Thief Gold just today, and I went through such a mess with downloading patches, etc...I was scared I was going to crash my poor computer, so I just unistalled it.

So you guys are telling me that this one little fix will let you play the game the way we used to play it? That is great news, now I am off to try it.:D
