Wow, you're really bent out of shape about that, eh?
When you put as much work into threads as I do and every single time you post a review that should have fog but doesnt (and repeatedly beg people not to PM you or comment about it) only to find your inbox flooded with people asking you why you haven't fixed it with this fix or that fix - not to mention a moderator having to split two pages of posts from a thread that you've spent months and dozens of hours on.. and it being mentioned in said thread about a half dozen times over the course of it - Yeah, it starts to wear on you after a while. I've always addressed it in a joking manner however and even had a few laughs about it, so I'd call it far from being 'bent out of shape'.
But tell me Brethren - since you've been my biggest critic starting with day one (and even told me so in the thread that it wouldn't work) - why do the things that I say bother you in particular so much and seemingly no one else?

Just my opinion here, but this "megathread" concept really defeats the purpose of having a proper threaded message board. The point of having individual threads with their own topics is to focus the conversation and discussion a bit (and I suppose to make it easier to search for information in the future). There really should be separate threads for "favorite fan missions" or "thoughts on Mission ABC" or "screenshots of beautiful missions."
Not telling anyone what to do, just expressing my views here. Try to picture this thread after a month or two, and you'll probably agree that it could potentially just be a big sloppy mess.
This was on page one of that thread - I appreciate your support for a brand new idea - and thanks for never admitting that you were completely wrong about it after people obviously enjoyed it. Though, after reading through a few dozen of your posts I see that you are super serious about 100% of the time and get 'bent out of shape' regularly, so I expect nothing less my friend.
Then, after someone posted a request for mission hints (after the OP asks them nicely not to) and I asked them to use the search to find what they need you pop in with this gem:

Maybe a link to each respective thread within the review post would be appropriate.
asking me to do even more work for each review after you had previously told me that the thread wouldn't work at all! How helpful!
That, apparently not being enough to get your point across that im doing nothing right (and having still said nothing positive, which shows your consistency at least!) you pop into the thread I've worked so hard on yet again and drop this helpful hint:

Quick question about the master index of missions in the first post of this thread - wouldn't it make more sense to list missions alphabetically rather than by the "last updated" date? If someone is searching for a mission, they're going to be looking for the specific name of an FM, not a date. As this thread grows over time, it's going to be more difficult to locate a specific mission.
If someone just wants to catch up on the thread, they can just jump in and find the spot where they last read manually, and read one from there. Just doesn't seem to make much sense to list missions by their review date.
I had thought of that before but didn't have the hours of time it would take to re-arrange everything just yet.. And a short time later I did just that.. and still nothing positive came from you.
And here, during yet ANOTHER fog derail is another helpful comment from you about needing to upgrade just to have fog:

Funny, I'd do this too, especially since I'm considering an upgrade right now. I wonder what's the lowest PC specs required for a machine that just needs to runs T1 and T2 perfectly without any issues at all (and still be able to max out resolution and things like that)?
Wow, you must really be worried about those weather effects! Then we get to the real reason that I think you are so critical of me later in that same thread:

I find this all pretty interesting. A few years ago, I'd hoped to write reviews for every FM released and post them on Southquarter. I was on a roll for a while, and then one time I got to a mission I didn't care for too much. I had a negative review all written and ready for posting, and I thought - do I really want to do this? Isn't this just hurting the community, and acting as a deterrent to authors to create new missions? I couldn't stomach the thought, and I stopped posting reviews. I haven't put one up since.
I think there is a constructive way to write reviews and post opinions, but it's a REALLY fine line between doing that and insulting someone. What one person finds offensive, another finds constructive. There's so much gray area - not many comments are as black & white as Thief4's postings about Rocksbourg3 awhile back. Most fans and people in this community in particular are kinder than that.
So what's the answer? Only post reviews of missions that are considered A-list, where there's not much criticism to post? That's sort of cowardly. Or should we just say nice things about every FM out there? That's way too shiny and happy for me, and makes a review rather pointless. There's no easy route. You can also do nothing and let people decide for themselves, or continue on with criticism and just deal with the fallout.
I think this post was actually somewhat meant to be in
support of what I'm doing? I still can't tell because of the way its worded, really.
I think you've gotten my point by now - so I wont go on further.. but you've heaped a ton of criticism on me without me saying a single word back to you about it and taking it with a smile. I only ask that even if you don't have a positive thing to say about anything I've done here and you haven't enjoyed any of it fair enough, but you dont need to let me know so often.
If you don't have a problem with me, I certainly don't have a problem with you - lets just go back to playing and talking about thief, eh?
Right :D
I do what I do and you do what you do, so relax my friend. Sorry to everyone else that I got a little long winded and ranting there, but you can only take so many and turn the other cheek until you at least have to say
something. :laff:

Well, sneaky, I understand how idiotic it is for me to start this new topic, I can understand how persistent people can be, I'm one of
those people. :cheeky:
I didn't think it was idiotic at all, I was just hoping you'd find something in those links that I posted that might help you. Searching for links to try to help you caused me to stumble onto a very old topic that had a link inside to something I had never tried for my Radeon card, and it just happened to work. Who would have thought that after trying every fix imaginable something from 2002 was what worked :laff: Apparently it was very specific to the Radeon line of graphics cards. My comment in this thread was just poking fun at how many PM's and comments in threads I get when I post screenshots of missions that are supposed to have fog but my card didn't allow for it (until the recently found fix) - it was nothing that you said.
I run Windows XP myself and have never dealt with vista, but hopefully you eventually find the fix you are looking for.
