Just a side note..
I am surprised someone has not mentioned it but I would double check that you are using the latest Version of the nVidia drivers for your video card as well as the latest DirectX drivers from Microsoft. You had mentioned you use DX9 but is it DX9.0c? It never hurts to re-install therse drivers at any rate.
Also be sure that you are using 32 bit color depth for your desktop resolution (ie:1024 x 768 32bbp) is what I currently use.
T3ED won't run at a 16 bit desktop resolution in my experience although it does not return the same error, different configurations of hardware will produce different results.
Lastly make sure you have properly set your firewall for T3ED or disable it altogether (for testing purposes). I believe KOMAG's T3ED tutorial covers firewall settings in detail. KOMAG's tut is an excellent way to get started with T3ED.

Well I just totaly reinstalled everything. I updated my drivers, re-did directx 9.c, downloaded another editor.. re-installed the game and editor.. turned off my firewall.. made sure I am 32bit and tried different res.. and still same error. :(
I have a downloaded version to the game, legal.. I did pay for it through a proper site.. but I was wondering if that could be my problem somewhere? Do you need the game CD to play the game? Should I try patching something like that.. even though I don't need it.. maybe editor isn't registing it? Im really out of options :(

If you have the DirectDrive version, or whatever it is called then I would put my money on that being the problem.
I would prefer to be wrong, though.

I read on (
www.john-p.com) that the Direct2Drive version of Thief III is different to the DVD Store-bought version. Maybe that's the problem

So this is an unsolveable problem then? Unless I actully buy the game..
Thanks for all your help :)
