I don't understand what answer your are waiting for, sorry. It's TDS editing forum.

You can open the dds files with Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro if you first find and install the corresponding (
http://developer.nvidia.com/object/photoshop_dds_plugins.html) nVidia plug-in. How to get those into DromEd is a different matter, though, about which I know close to nothing.

I think, it is not that primitive,
Beleg. You forget that T2 textures doesn't have a normal version for shadows imitation. Simple changing of the file format will give an ugly flat picture without any verisimilitude. I'm so sure in it because I'm trying to create a TDS texture from T2 texture right now, and it's a real pain in the ass.
DarkMax does really need a tutorial about creating texture for T2 from multi-mapped textures of TDS kind.

Here is how to do it:
1) Open the DDS files as Beleg suggested
2) Resize them to a max of 256x256 and save them as BMPs
3) Convert the textures to a common palette Thief can recognise (otherwise they show up weird). The best way to do it is with Bright183.exe; you can find a thread on using it (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99850) here.
4) Use them in your mission
Note that this is not exactly legal by the T3 license, and some people object to doing it at all.
[edit]Tiens does have a point there. Sometimes, lowering the gamma of an image helps it look good in Thief, however.

They're packed in the .ibt files, so you can't get them from the game version. You'll need to download the editor to have access to the .dds files, I think.

...or install JohnP's high-res texture pack in order to get the even bigger dds files into CONTENT\T3\PC Textures\Dynamically Loaded.

Remember that JohnP forbids to change his textures without his permission. It's written in the readme to the pack.
