I looked at the FAQs and I did a search but I didn't quite find the answer to my issue.
Okay, I'm extremely late to the party. For the first time I have installed this game and so far it is going fine (version 1.1) with one exception that periodically pops up for no apparent reason.
The keys will suddenly not function particularly the jump key, but also the keys that function for walk or creep. Sometimes if I go back to the main screen and go to the input options and click on Default and return it works. Other times not. The thing is I can play for two to three hours with no issues.
It has worked if I will first change the keys and then change them back but not always. So I have to log off because too many of Garrett's skills are undoable.
I do have a microsoft keyboard but it isn't the type that is mentioned in the Thief III tech trouble shooting. OS is XP Pro w/SP3. Socket 939 with 2 gigs of RAM, AMD X2 3800+, and SATA HD.
Would appreciate feedback and any "fixes." Thanks.

I've just been playing it for the first time myself too. Not sure if it's exactly the same as your problem but sometimes the engine seems to get confused about whether you should be climbing something or not and I've found myself able to move around floating in mid air.
I've found that attempting to nook an arrow appears to fix it most times in my case - perhaps it will help with your problem?

Now that is interesting. Do you have version 1.1? If not I know there is a patch for pre-1.1 versions of the game.
After I first posted I went back a few hours to play the game for 5 hours and not one glitch. Strange...
I'll try your bow thing next time I run into a problem. On the rare occasion I also get system crashes with a game executible.
Thanks for the reply and I'm also glad to see I am not the only one late to the party. :)

Yes, I've also got version 1.1. I did have some crashes as well early on, particularly when saving games (corrupting one of the saves one time). However, they were pretty infrequent and they appear to have settled down.
I had my first 'floating' problem when trying to get something out of a chest that I couldn't see into without jumping, the second that I remember when trying to get something from under a grate. I just put it down to an engine glitch and didn't hunt around for an official fix.

Your suggestion works! :thumb: You don't even have to set the arrow fully; just as long as you can see Garrett attempting to load it. Whatever it does it corrects the key commands. Thanks Al_B.
