I just wondered what gamers, and gaming press would have said today about Thief 2. I mean, nowadays, they would have changed and added a gazillion of things on a successor, while with Thief 2, the changes were pretty minor compared. :) No idea why they think they have to literally reinvent the wheel every time nowadays. The leading games mag here in Germany said about Fallout 4 that it does everything the successors did, but not much more. Quite a joke considering how much they have changed to part 3 and New Vegas, and how much they used to change in games back in the days. Must be boring for the spoiled kids these days, if they don't change a million things, and add dozens of crafting, cooking, and what not options, like in a MMORPG.

chk772, the changes were minimal because Thief 2 came out not long after Thief 1, meaning the technology of hardware and software were almost the same as they were with Thief 1. Same graphics engine was used. So they couldn't have made the game with a "gazillion of new things". And I mean, Thief 1 was a success anyway so why not build on the same path?
Fallout 4 and Fallout 3 differences are hard to spot, you are correct on that, I agree they are rather different in many regards. Especially as games supposedly built on the same system.
