I actually really liked the Thieves guild! Nothing like getting lost in those endless tunnels, only hearing thieves mumbling in the backround. Also it features some of the best conversations in Thief history.
Same here. It might not be the best, but Thieves' Guild is my favorite out of the three Gold missions. I also don't get lost in it after playing it a couple of times. The problem there is the choice of textures and a lack of detail that makes it hard to get your bearings. Still, it's quite manageable.

I would say that on my first play-through, the guild was somewhat intimidating. Although I think i came to like it more as I realized I was thieving in a Thieves guild. (Say that ten times fast) The story behind the mission is also one that is pretty cool too.

To be fair, it is a little funny that you're accusing zb of being an attention seeker inside of a thread where you're basically wanting people to argue.
Projection is a hell of a drug.

not qualified to come up with a proper descriptive term for Zylonbane. Any suggestions?
Hilarious, at times. Just ignore anything that you dont like. Interestingly, of all the things one could understandably say about ZylonBane, attention seeking has gotta be at the bottom of the list.

Not sure, look at how "inconspicuously" the discussion thread was diverted to him. Maybe he's just subtle at attention seeking? ;) If not for attention seeking then his initial post of "Keep trying to convince yourself that." is rather pointless, meaningless. The only motive I can see is attention seeking and belittle-ling others to feel better about himself.

The Belittler?
The Grinch?

For me, you can't beat the story line and atmosphere of TDP. Really liked TG also. I always get a laugh when I hear "we're going to the bear pits......."

All of them give me a hard-hitting punch of nostalgia, always, when I think about them and at the beginning, even T2X. Then, their last missions just tire me out, even if I'm really into them. My feelings towards these games seem utopian, as if just a little dose is required, but at the same time isn't enough, and progressively it just gets smudged. It's frustrating and luscious at the same time.

Thief Gold, closely followed by The Metal Age. Thief Gold just seems the most consistent, The Metal Age is not as creepy, and dark, but also very cool. Actually, i never finished Thief Gold though, always got stuck 2 or 3 missions before finishing it... it is very long with the additional missions. But a great experience. And the opera mission was one of the sickest missions i've played in a Thief game. :D
I must add though that i prefer the soundtrack of The Metal Age to Thief Gold.

Thief Gold is just an expansion of the game that started it all, and it has something for everyone/more variety. Thief 2 is great for those who didn't like certain elements of TDP, and there's no doubt that it's a more refined experience (aside from "Casing the Joint"), but I'm not surprised that Thief Gold has taken the lead.
