Also, that was for challenge. It is meaningless If you are completely silent when you are crouching or whatever. Not fun.

That argument might hold water if AI didn't hear them too.
Not this again. Come on man, stop being ridiculous. ZB has already explained this to you.

Pros:
-maps
-arrows
-multiple paths
-open character of levels
-nice lockpicking system (the one without the focus)
-new and nice feature of searching the frames. I crave for more such innovative elements!
-moving through the tight spaces (very thief-like)
-you can interact with candles
-interesting tomb riddle
Cons:
-rather small level... I don't like City hub idea (got bad T3 experiences): I would rather see bigger and/or more missions instead of it. But we will see.
-I hate Romano's work, sorry. And it has nothing with Stephen Russell. Mr. Romano's lines just sound dull and stiff. New Garrett has no character at all.
-other dialogues sound boring, too.
-still no readables...
-swoop seems to be too powerful/too silent?
-switching the camera while knocking down your opponent. Many first person games showed us it is not necessary and looks cool without it, so why? Especially in the game where immersion is so important??
-AI seems to be dumb and deaf...
-hints (which could be disabled thankfully)
-focus (as above)
-overall lack of...something, I don't know. In T1 and T2 I've been calling it SOUL of a game. As mentioned before Thief is something more than stealth game...It is an interesting world with its factions and intrigues, great story, charismatic character which you like and identify with(Romano is just killing this one), great and sometimes funny dialogues, and even poems and sayings between the missions full of tense... The mixing of all of these gave me full Thief experience before. Question is: is this new Thief is made with comparable passion?

In trailers and this one I found Romano's voice good (Russell would sound better but)... A bit ...melancholic maybe. But if it represents older Garrett I could accept it. Other voices didn't disturb me too. Even f****** taffer removal... But ambient theme, I think they really should add more colors. If something is the soul of thief games, ambient is the first remembered

Maybe I'm in denial / too hopeful, but the only thing I can think to excuse some of the issues that have come up from this walkthrough (e.g. the ability to move too quickly over any surface, ability to abuse swoop, guards appearing to be deaf, Garrett chatting bollocks all the time etc.) is that in order for the demonstration not to be boring, or result in them not getting to show the things they wanted to, is that they have the game set to some sort of "super easy" mode.
Lets face it the last thing they want to show a bunch of press is a 20 minute video of someone moving very slowly through the shadows and spending minutes at a time sat doing nothing or reading "flavour" text. Obviously as we all know from the previous thief games that sort of thing is immensely enjoyable to play, but not necessarily to watch.
Like I say, maybe I've got too much f4ith, but I can see how the demonstrations they have given so far may not be able to show the things that most of us would like to see, but that the capability is still there to play a game where you do have to consider the ground you are walking on and guards do respond to sound as well as they did in the previous games.

Since this demo shows basically what we saw at Cologne and since they emphasized back then that this was a "more aggressive" style of playing, there might be something to the issue of entertaining people in a twenty minute cinematic show. I mean, they began to state openly that Focus was optional/can be turned off in most presentations that I have seen lately, so they actually try to explain that there are hardcore fans with such and such preferences.

Yet the question remains unglazed. Why would they turn off the guards ears? Even considering a demonstration geared towards aggression, which it doesnt seem like to me (more of a series of quick blurbs showcasing whatever it is they think is the coolest thing about this new game, it would never make sense to "shut off the sound". Witnessing the ai react like we veterans would *hope* that they would could only enhance a demonstration. It would show that they are more advanced than other games. I am of course assuming that their game design is as good and hopefully better than their visual and aural stylings.

I hear you man. I feel like there is not a lot being said about audio and that worries me a lot.
