Brethren, I wrote a transcript for you. He knows what it is. He's just making up dumb jokes with every answer. I have no idea why he's doing that, but it's consistent across all his answers ...
I'm not sure how that transcript is supposed to convince me - I watched the thing like 5 times. I just don't think he's joking, and IMO he never give any kind of indication that he is. Just my opinion, yours obviously differs.

Speaking of that, didn't "tutorial" VO get taken out on Hard and Expert in Thief 2? I can't recall.
I think the reason the "Captain Obvious" VOs are bothering everyone is because most of us play on expert, and in T2 those hand holding comments don't play. It'll be interesting to see if you can just turn off the tutorial type comments and leave the rest of the VOs intact.

I had to use my focus ability to spot positives too.
ROFL - quote of the year.

He doesn't give any outward indication that he's 'joking'. I think his manner is just very direct and abrupt - like the way he orders questioners to identify themselves by barking "NAME" at them. So I guess that's his way and subtitles won't come across as such.
But I think when he is working on a game that specifically refers to ghosting in its trailer, he's likely not really thrown by the term. I think he's just trying to think for other people who might not know what ghosting is in the context of Thief games. He's trying to be inclusive - just in a very abrupt, direct, barky sort of way that doesn't make it obvious what his intention is.

Ah okay, that's what I thought. (About Thief 2.)
Indeed, that will be good if that's the case. I kind of doubt EM would be that specific though, it'll probably just turn his VO off completely.
Also, I'm apparently not paying close enough attention, I didn't know ghosting was mentioned in a trailer. :O

why so many people complaining about the time? :erm:
for example: the first time i played Lord Baffords my time was like 3-4 hours. today i can finish it in around 5 minutes (normal), when i use the front door i need only 40 seconds.
they know the route, they know the ways. and if you explore the whole level (what MASTERthiefs do) it will be surely longer.

Maybe "Sneaking abilities" are somehow upgradable. If this mission is in the middle of the game, maybe this is the reason for silent moving on tiles.
On the other hand, I found it always wrong, "Garret the Master-Thief with wooden shoes"...
... like this?

I don't like the behavior of the presenter.

But Brethren, he specifically says that he understands what Dale means. How is that not some sort of indication? Why assume he's blatantly lying?
Even if you want to be that cynical, he claims he knows what Dale means
before Dale gets around to explaining it. Now, if he actually had no idea what ghosting means, that would be a pretty dumb thing to say. All Dale has to do at that point is shut up and he's screwed.

Yes, but if you are seriously half way through the game and can basically walk at any speed over tile flooring without the guard right in front of you noticing, and only use swoop to catch up to a guard or hurry from one place to another a short distance away, then why even bother sneaking. If you are silent over tiles anyways, why even have swoop/focus? The pace is more hurried this time around, I get it, but... how does this add to the "stealth" side of things? The new team has always defaulted to swoop as one of its proud talking points when trying to explain what NuStealth is.

There's no ironclad rule that tiles have to be one of the loudest textures in the game. It looks to me that the tile material is now somewhere between the old stone and wood materials. That seems reasonable to me.
However, if there are no textures louder then that at all, that would indeed be a blow to the game.
I don't understand why you say there's no point sneaking just because the floors are quieter. He still needs to stay out of sight, he still can't sprint around without a care. It you look at every single thief game under the sun, the most frequent texture is easily stone ... a pretty damn quiet material. Does that remove the stealth challenge from those parts of the game? Of course not!

@Chade - I'm just saying his tiny brain eventually figured it out, just before Dale was about to explain it to him - even if he didn't know the phrase "ghost" it should be pretty easy to reason through given the context of the question. We've beat this topic to death though, so let's just agree to disagree.
We can at least agree the presenter was a tool/douchebag/a-hole though, right? :laff:
Now, how you can argue that sound made from walking on tile is between stone and wood on the volume scale, I can't help you there, you're completely on your own. That does not seem reasonable to me.
