Hey everyone! Recently I've had the urge to play through the entire Thief series on my current PC. I've gotten Thief Gold and T2 working wonderfully (so many thanks to Jermi et al) but Thief DS is giving me some problems. PC specs as follows:
Windows 7 64 bit
Intel i7 950
6gb DDR3
Nvidia GTX 470
First off all I've done is install the game, install patch 1.1, and used the T3 FOV tweaker to get widescreen 1920x1080. Now the display looks good but I'm having a problem where the game just gets very choppy depending on what I'm looking at. Sometimes I can look at a detailed scene and get 60 fps, other times it drops way down, like into the 20s. Obviously my PC is more than capable of running this game smooth, so I'm wondering if it's a problem with multicore systems, current graphics drivers, etc.
Anyone have any tips on how to get DS running smoothly and without other issues?
Thanks!!

Set AntiAliasing to "Controlled by application" in your video driver settings and use in-game Multisampling instead. Turn off any dynamic CPU frequency management in power settings and services. Change T3's shortcut properties to:
Target: cmd /c start /affinity 1 t3.exe
Start in: {your Thief folder with full path, should be already there}

I have also seen the suggestion of going into the 'system' folder inside your T3 installation and changing both of these settings to 0.
VSynch__x=0
VSynch__p=0
Someone mentioned in another thread that it looks like vsync in the menu doesn't actually change teh vsynch in the default file and they noticed better performance after changing it manually.

Thanks guys, all I really had to do was leave vsync enabled and use the ingame AA setting (as opposed to forcing via control panel) and it ran nice and smooth. The only other thing was using a small patcher utility I found on the Steam forums to fix the load mission / end mission / exit game freeze bug, which works awesome.
Now I've got all 3 games ready to go. :ebil:

that's because all pirated versions are incompatible with modern computers.there is no workaround,you will have to buy the game.

Did you even look to see how much it cost first? Buy the "Complete Collection", all the games on one disc for the low low.
