the beauty contest was a challenge to make the finest looking scene possible with the dark engine, custom resources, texture, object were allowed. they were not playable, just fun to look at.

Also, does anybody know of the mission Evendale by Random Taffer entered for the Novice contest? I haven't seen that for download anywhere. Was it removed, despite showing up in the result stats?

If I remember correctly, Evendale was withdrawn from the Novice Contest due to technical difficulties. Random_Taffer no longer had the .mis file so was unable to fix it for a later release.
I also asked kamyk to add a Contest category with a link to this thread to the already stickied list of FMs by type. I felt this was a better location than buried in the FAQ. He has agreed to add the link, so no worries about stickying this one.

basically random taffer used the dromed deluxe system to build evendale, and come time to release it didn't get the custom resources used separate from the dromed deluxe package. in order to play it, if you have it install dromed deluxe first, then the mission. i found it here (

I seem to recall another thread that had a listing of the contests and the entries too somewhere or other. I'll try to find it, and add that contest section to my sticky when I can. Had thought of that possibility before, and it seems it's a category of interest, so...

But the .mis file is in the mission .zip? And quite a few people still have that.
