Unbridled NuCareer advancement at its finest. And sadly, it truly is nothing more or nothing less. Nothing even remotely elite about this form of PR, just blatant advancement. Because the focus is on Madeeha Ahmed, and not on Thief itself, it is easy to slip in any kind of hidden intention that a PR department can devise, as everyone will be too busy eating up the controversy of "hot chick best Thief fan ever" business model, to even notice. Look! Hot chick, game called Thief, mom I gotta get that game.
It goes without saying that the many fans who have worked tirelessly all these years keeping the game alive, are the best fans ever. With no offense intended, she is merely another person who found Thief at a poignant time in her life, and created a few blogs. Which is great and I truly appreciate her for that, but the only difference between her and my 17 year old nephew and countless others is that he doesnt plaster NuThings all over his tribute pages and intently express an undying desire to join NuTeam. Nothing wrong with that either, it is a great way to promote oneself.
Aside from this latest exciting new bit of PR, I still want to see and know more about the mysterious 1st person game play ethics that NuTeam is carelessly hacking together, before I decide to invest any amount of hard earned money into NuThief Incorporated.

She is working as a PR agent for Eidos. No random fan is going to put this on their LinkedIn resume:

I manage the following blogs on Tumblr. I do not make a profit from any of these blogs as they are made for fun and creative purposes only:
The Thief Confessions

The Assassin Journals
The Files of Subject 17

Does that mean she is also working as PR for Ubisoft due to the Assassin's Creed ones?
You might mean she's an amateur PR agent - as in she isn't paid by EM and is only hyping their game for them in an attempt to be recognised, but there's almost no chance (based on how suicidal a tactic it would be for EM if it came out) they would have someone go so far pretending to be a normal fan (to the point of having them be disappointed in the lack of Stephen Russell, if optimistic about the new guy).
Honestly she's probably legit, just because someone doesn't see the same way as a big fandom, no matter how much that fandom thinks it's in the right doesn't mean they're any less than the rest.

Shill or not, I agree this is not the place to make personal attacks on forum members.

Holy high-horse, Batman! Things are "exciting" at TTLG I see! :)
I know I've been gone awhile, and I visited briefly back when NewDark was revealed a year ago or so, but I had no idea things were so bleak around here. I've been seeing quite the buzz about NewThief on various sites lately, and I checked here to see what the mood was like around here and all I can say is ... W O W. Do I have a beer-goggled view of the past and it's always been so negative at TTLG, or is this a recent development?
I haven't really followed the whole development cycle of the new Thief very closely, but I've been reading back through a lot of the article links in the other thread, watching interviews with EM's dev team, etc. I thought the game was looking pretty promising. Yeah, it sucks that some things didn't turn out the way I would've liked, some design and certainly some PR decisions by EM have been eyebrow-raising, but I thought overall the game looked amazing and was really finally starting to come together. I was getting excited, a little, when I saw Thief pop up on Steam for pre-purchase but I just couldn't bring myself to buy it. I was going on nostalgia, thinking how bad could it be, and then I started seeing a lot of things that seemed like it was worse than I ever imagined possible. But that was early on. Now over the last few weeks I've been able to find some of the stuff I've been missing about its development and features and thought that it might actually be a good addition to the Thief franchise. I see that sentiment is not too common around here though. Is it just that those that are not happy with the game's current development are so vocal, or are there some people that are feeling at least a little positive that NewThief might actually be something they could like or even enjoy?
I'm still undecided at this point whether to get it or not, but I don't feel nearly as disrespected as I did about 1 - 2 months ago. I know I've seen the darker side of Thief-fandom lately, and it isn't pretty. I'm reserving my judgment of the game for later in the release schedule. I can only hope EM wakes up (or has already, and we're just not seeing it) and realizes what they've got to do.

Although I've been one of the most negative people out here, I personally don't mind people liking the reboot and I think attacking them is not cool.
Still, the negativity is hardly happening just here at TTLG. Many forums are highly critical of the reboot and I've seen places where the reaction is much worse.

Yeah, you're right. The more I delve into it the more I see there's a pretty polarizing split: People hating it, and people hopeful..pretty much everywhere.
I just can't completely rule out a potentially good game because of some pre-market, para-development "issues" and hating it outright because it doesn't fit my vision of the "perfect Thief experience". But, as with all things internet and peoples' opinions: I can't fault someone for not liking something because of what they've seen....
Sooo...what to do. I guess those who are hopeful can just keep on hoping, and those who are disliking what they're seeing can go on pointing out the possible faults of the final product. And
IF some of that negativity has caused the folks at EM to change their stance on some things, then, well, I guess I'll have to be the hypocrite and be the first to admit that maybe it wasn't all for naught and that there was something good that came out of it.
Speaking of which, has anybody noticed if something in the game's development has been changed already due to some of the negative feedback? Has it had any effect that we can tell? Certainly EM would probably never admit to it, and who knows how set-in-stone the game's mechanics have been over time since we haven't seen much released in the way of actual footage? I can't even find date/time stamps on a lot of the articles I've been reading and the vids I've been watching.

If there were just a few issues, I could look past them. If there was even one aspect that was on the same level with the originals, I could enjoy that. As it is, I don't like the visual aesthetic, I've not been impressed by the music, the gameplay doesn't seem promising, the story doesn't grab me, I don't think the new voice actor comes anywhere close to Russell, and new Garrett seems just obnoxious with the ninja suit and gangsta bow.
The only thing they've changed because of the criticisms (that I know of) was that hands get less screen time when the player is standing.

I know what you mean by "negative feedback", but with respect to TTLG, I think the term is a bit ambiguous. :p
From what I've seen, both the removable HUDs (aka the so-called oldschool mode) and the floating arms were introduced/tweaked after initial fan criticism. Also, the forums (including TTLG) seem to be watched very carefully, so if we want a chance to change things in our way, we should always remain constructive in our criticism -- and polite obviously.
