So this is the latest article posted on the EM blog, all well and good to highlight the fans and things but one line caught my eye:
Quote:
one of the biggest and most active Thief fans we’ve ever met
She runs two blogs, the TTLG forums have been actively maintained since the studio shut its doors (as far as my knowledge extends).
Two blogs earns superfan status.
Don't get me wrong, she might very well be incredibly active here as well, if so, I'm a douchebag (no surprise). It was just that one line, it doesn't sit well.

First of all, she's a NuThief fan, not a THIEF fan...a mere promotional agent, serving the interests of EM.
One must understand that Eidos Montreal will continue to highlight promotional agents of EM and NuThief, whilst simultaneously attempting to displace true THIEF and its fanbase...due to a lack of universe congruency and community support for their ill-conceived motivation and creation.

She started playing the metal age when she was 11, I'd say she's easily played long enough to be called a fan.

She may even be a member of this board, we don't know and after being called a 'mere promotional agent' we may never find out
So if you want to have a go at someone have a go at EM, they are the ones who decided she's a superfan, don't start attacking the players.

I don't see her promoting the classic THIEF games...only NuThief...That should tell you something.
To be clear, if she's simply promoting NuThief and not classic THIEF, then she's effectively acting as a promotional agent for EM...whether she's getting paid for it or not.

If she's a real Thief fan and a member here she wouldn't be put off by anyone sneering at that.
Fwiw - it seems manufactured to me. I'll be glad to be proved wrong.
Either way, she's no way as big a fan as many of the members here.

It is also worth noting that her bleeding heart devotion to Thief relied *heavily* upon the voice of Stephen Russell. Knowing that he was unceremoniously evicted from the franchise that he so eloquently helped to solidify, it does raise questions as to the authenticity of her general fandom and support for NuThief.

She specifically (in the link) says she loved Thief II first and mainly for its immersion, setting and Garrett's voice. She specifically praises LGS and Stephen Russell, then praises EM/Ion Storm as well, and Ozari. In one way it seems like it might be tacked on in another it does genuinely seem like she's a fan of both the original games and the new. I'm feeling the latter more now.
Hey there's nothing to say you can't do that, you don't have to share the criticisms of others.
Esme on 20/9/2013 at 00:00
So we're just going to rip into players who like what they see in the new game then ?
I thought our issues were with the way the game has been developed and the features it's got, I didn't realise we were supposed to strawman anyone who says anything positive about it.
Again, she hasn't put herself forward as a 'superfan' that was EM doing that.
EM aren't going to pick someone who is critical are they ?
So while none of us will ever be EM's fan of the month I think it's unfair to have a go at the people EM do choose.
Reserve your ire for EM's selection process.

Unless I'm just reading this wrong, you're not making any sense here. Because she's a fan of Stephen Russell, her status as a true fan is in question? Huh?
That aside, I don't get why people here are questioning the article and this person. She started a few blogs, they asked her to do a feature for the EM blog, she said yes. Not complicated. She doesn't have to be a diehard fan from way back in the day to be legitimate. And EM isn't going to do a Q&A with someone here who would just bash the shit out of EM. This whole thing is just a non issue.

I am saying that if Stephen Russell was so crucial to her Thief experience, the fact that he isnt in the new game... nevermind.
It is my hope that at the very least she has signed the petition.
