And if you're able to use the contextual jumping to jump on any object in the game, what then? Is it still a heinous turd of a mechanic deserving vicious hatred? Or are you just sad that you can't bunny hop for no reason?
I don't bunny hop when I play Thief. And jumping isn't just about jumping on objects in Thief. I'll sometimes jump over obstacles. If I'm on a wall in NuThief and there's an enemy below, would I be able to jump over the enemy and to the ground or will pushing the "jump" button just make me jump down beside the enemy? Would I be able to jump over enemies low in stature such as spiders? Would I be able to jump over a body lying in a corridor that might be directly in my path or would I have to go around it? If there's a surface difference in a room or area that I'm traversing, would I be able to jump over it or would pushing the button cause a swoop? I'll sometimes jump straight up to see some area I wouldn't be able to see otherwise--would I still be able to do that in NuThief?
I have similar complaints about contextual leaning, BTW. That's not as egregious as the jumping though.
Oh, and one more thing, the contextual controls wouldn't have been enough to keep me from buying the game if EM had done a better job on the other aspects of NuThief.

Wow. That straw-man is actually still being tossed around?

It would be awesome if we could not have every thread turn into a bitch fest about the jumping.

There are a few things Im really corious about.
@Brethren,
How do you know that in the Garrett Bio of the App that there will be no reference to the keepers? Are there any information spread about his biography? How comes that everybody is talking that they have seen glyphs? I havent seen any single glyph on one of the screenshot. Could someone please tell me where I can find the glyph reference?
I think there will be a few keeper references in the game, for example, the brothel is the old keeper library which was originally rebuild from Thief Deadly Shadows. This is also the place where Garrett will receive his magical power, the focus mode. I think this could be covered with keeper/glyph magic, that Garrett will find an ancient old keeper artifact, which gives him the focus ability. I believe I read/heard something about an accident which happenens there.
We know, that the old keeper library will be one of the first missions. What do you think could his objective be in this mission?
Perhaps Garrett want to find out what happened and he knows this was always the place where he can find serious information and advice.

Sounds like a perfect tutorial mission, a homely place to get acquainted and reacquainted with the Thief universe.
But about the focus magic power, it's more news to me.

There are glyphs on Garretts gloves.

That doesn't necessarily mean anything. They could just be one of those "nods to the original" we keep hearing about.

Could be 'left' & 'right'.
...well he did fall off a roof

I never said it did.
Someone asked if and where glyphs had been seen.

I never got the "Jumping breaks immersion" thing.
If you can't jump the game feels even less immersible, and getting a prompt telling you you can jump breaks immersion. Also if bunnyhopping makes you move faster than it becomes habit and you don't even notice you're doing it, but if bunny hopping makes you slower (like in t2 I think) then no one ever does it and jumping is freewill and you wont see bunnyhopping. They either didn't think this out or it's some excuse on the surface for another reason they didn't include it.
