The new trailer seems to imply that he's still connected to the Keepers in this one. I think they were intentionally burying the mythology in the early marketing for fear of turning off potential new-comers.
I must be missing something - where did you see any reference to the Keepers? And why would that scare off newcomers?

Yeah, I don't get where you're seeing a Keeper link Faf.
Though I do agree that having them might put off newcomers if it were portrayed in such as way as to suggest that prior knowledge of the Keepers is necessary/useful.

And have a section where you play as the dog.
I would buy an entire game based around the adventures of Garrett's dog.

Thinking about it... funny how the game, and its trailers, may be built on extremes, rejecting the balance force of the Keepers.
Who needs some neutral, discreet dudes? Let's give 'em social riots, the opressive po-po and a dastard guy in a hood and eye shadow.
edit: I feel old. Rambling against something, indirectly saying what I think is right, not really knowing what I want from it. hm

(
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGRVuWpZ9lE) After seeing the first trailer for Thief, I thought it was about a dude with a rocket launcher bow.
Imagine my disappointment when it ended up being based entirely upon sneaking around bullshit.

Garrett's "apprentice" made me cringe. Sorry, but I couldn't buy that Garrett would babysit that brat.
SubJeff on 11/12/2013 at 17:27
He's clearly tapping that and for him that's good reason.
apostrophe on 11/12/2013 at 17:36
Does Garrett tap?
There was Basso's sister, but how that turns out, it's a mistery.
Huh! The man's so professional even this aspect of his life is put aside from the player.

The old lady in the trailer has a line about The Balance having changed and 'we can all feel it' which implies Keeper. Why would a Keeper be speaking to Garrett abot the Balance and how
he has to fix it unless they have had dealings with him in the past, like, I dunno, training him?

It's a reboot - which basically means nothing that has happened previously has happened in this particular universe, including Garrett busting the little girl at the end of TDS. So no, it's not her, although since we know absolutely nothing about "her" anyway, I'm not sure why it matters.
As far as the Keeper connection goes, just hearing "the balance has shifted" is pretty vague - that could apply to anything. It's a fairly common phrase. I think Gandalf used it in LOTR - does that make him a Keeper?
