I just saw on the EM blog that they were showing off Thief at the Montreal Comic Con just this past Saturday. Surprised no one here has mentioned it - did anyone by chance actually go, and if so, can you provide any details or some kind of report?
This place is completely dead lately. Actually, not just here, but over at the EM forums too. It seems like as soon as EM announced a release date of next February, discussion came to a screeching halt. Maybe it's because everyone realizes that nothing in the game will realistically change at this point, or simply because there's not a lot of new info. But this place was hopping just a few months ago.
The only thing worse than a big pile of negative criticism is complete apathy.

Well, since all these bad predictions (movement restrictions, rope arrow hotspots, 3rd person QTEs, no swimmable water etc.) were officially confirmed (with the exception of swimming --- but this topic is so heavily avoided by developers that it's quite clear how it turns out), I almost completely lost interest in this game.

Maybe that's what they (EM) wanted - to make us apathetic, so they will complete NuThief development with no criticism from us at all? Who knows, maybe EM is very tired working on NuThief, so they are just counting every single day to the release and pray god that the community left them alone.

This new game seems so far removed from the other games I can't help feeling meh about the whole thing. I'm not angry anymore, just one disappointed taffer :(.

GTA V just came out. Who cares about Thief at a time line this?
MoroseTroll on 19/9/2013 at 20:06
I've never played GTA and never will. I just don't like this type of games.

Good thief games are all alike; every bad thief game is bad in it's own way.
(Not agreeing it will be bad, mind you, but "controversial" draws the quote out too much.)
We had a whole bunch of information earlier that was quite different to what you would have expected from a thief title. They had big implications that we haven't experienced before in thief, they were reported from many different sources each with their own twist on it. There was lots of room to form different opinions about how it was going to work, and a lot of stuff to speculate and argue about.
The most recent information coming out of the take 5 answers is, dare I say it, fairly non-controversial, and mostly what you would expect. I'm glad we're getting the information, but that doesn't mean it will generate a lot of discussion.

Unfortunately, this is due to the poor public relations and decision-making from EM.

Yes...I would say that many in the community have been extremely disappointed with recent NuThief discoveries, and because there is little left of game-defining significance to wait for, many have become permanently disenchanted and even disgusted with NuThief...hence the deflation of participation.

If you haven't played one how do you know you don't like it?

First, I saw enough on YouTube. Second, I just don't like TPS, though frankly there were some exceptions (Blade of Darkness, Max Mayne, Dead Space), but they definitely deserved my attention.
