I wonder if anyone's ever decided to record statistics about any sort of high difficulty 'classic' mode usage, or disabling modern features. Google seems to indicate it's quite popular, maybe most players don't neglect it?

Kotaku's trash but that's pretty sound. A meager 1.2% beat it on 1999, but does anyone know how many tried it? Regardless, there's still an audience for it. And games are a product, the audience should be catered to.

I'll say it again: If THI4F is to copy the formulae of any games the most, it should be pre-TDS Thief, not AC, etc. It's not Thief just because the protagonist is a Master Thief, even if the thief's a he and named Garrett.
