Does it work?
I am thinking of getting a lap top and I want to install Thief on it. If need be I will go out and buy one of the remaining Windows 7 systems. Otherwise I will just wait and buy a Windows 8 system later.

weird issues have been reported, but they do seem to be rare.

I have Windows 8.1 and the game works perfectly fine. Just patch it with the latest patches if you're concerned.

I played Thief 2 on Win 8 with no issues, using NewDark. Haven't tried to run it without NewDark.
Not tried Thief 1 with or without NewDark yet.

I'm running Win8.1 and have all Thiefs installed; T1, TG, T2, T2X, T3, and yes even T2014, lol. Used original cds, no problems, with and without NewDark, but I would still go ahead and patch everything and stay current, everything runs better that way. Actually I got to say, I've installed Thief on about every OS since it came out on Win98 and I think 8.1 was probably the easiest to install on. T1 or T2, can't remember which, played straight after install, no patching or tweaking. Haven't seen that in a long time! Course if you're buying something new, remember Win10 is suppose to be out later this year. Might be better or worse.

Didn't you get the CPU multi-core freeze issue?

The real question: does it run on Windows 10?

Gimme a sec, and I'll tell you.

Sorry for taking longer than a sec.
Just tried it out, and yup, it works in Windows 10.

Does Windows 8 run on Windows 8?
Think about it.
Meta, right?
