Thief and System Shock 2 Cutscenes won't work?

I've been helping my older brother install the thief games and system shock 2 on his new laptop but for some reason the cutscenes won't work in Thief Gold,Thief 2,Thief 2X and System Shock 2.
I have tried Scrooges Fix,I am running it as an admin,I downloaded the k-lite codec pack,the codecs that came with thief 2x,disabling desktop composition,ddfix and rgsvr32 and still nothing.They don't play at all in game and only the sound plays when I play them in the folder so what do I have to do to get things working.

I'm afraid I don't know very much about this sort of thing but would suggest you post his system specs.
