I'd put our FM artists up against THIEF any day. A major disappointment. In my opinion, without Russell it's just not worth buying.

...Indeed, it is in fact Esme that has not voted yet!...:weird:
As I have not played Thiaf & have no intention of playing Thiaf I'm not qualified to vote in any poll that compares it with other versions

:wot:...Check your goggles, I voted TDS a long time ago!...:D.
Oh, I guess I couldn't find the poll. I had looked a little, but only found a different poll you made and didn't vote in. Do you know where that poll is?
This is the poll I found. Made me think maybe I hadn't seen a TDS vs. NuThief poll: (

Respectable!

It's the one in my signature...(

Yeah, I didn't vote on that poll yet, because I haven't yet decided whether to rate it as a "Thief game" (1), or as a "game" (4)...:)

A note of caution, friend...If you choose to post on that thread about your NuThief ratings dilemma, you might encounter zomeone with a frown...:(
Prepare thyself!...:)

Ha! Thanks, man
This board is slower than I knew :(
I hope they don't require the vocal talent to do mo-cap again for Thi5f. I just accidentally stumbled on this (
https://community.eidosmontreal.com/blog/Out-of-the-Shadows) blog and chuckled a little...
Quote:
What are the benefits of a full performance capture?Jean-Christophe: Immersion. Being able to capture the voice at the same time as the actors' movements and facial expressions, all while the actors play off each other, delivers a much more convincing experience than traditional techniques of recording each characters' dialogue separately and then animating everything by hand afterwards.
Steven: Yes, exactly that. Immersion. We want Thief to be a really rich, story-driven experience. Being able to deliver the narrative in the most convincing and believable way is a really important part of providing that experience.
So, back to Stephen Russell then. Why did using a full performance capture technique effect your decision? Jean-Christophe: Yes. And to answer your question directly, the actor playing Garrett needed to be able to perform his own stunts. Garrett's a really athletic guy. We could have pasted Stephen's voice on top of the actions and stunts of someone else, but this wouldn't appear natural. It really wouldn't make any sense to capture the full performance for our other characters, but not for our star.
I only chuckle because when trying Thi4f the other day, I couldn't help but notice the sub-par lip-sync and mocap. Granted, they probably set a high bar for themselves and just ran into technical glitches or time constraints, so couldn't achieve. Game development isn't easy; and mocap cleanup takes time. But... okay, I'll stop now, as no need to open the can of worms again. So much more I could say, though :-| I'll just say the new bow, detailed costume, and 3rd-person POV takedowns looked nice, though... :-/
