I can't be the only one wondering why they arent showing us the back of Garrett's hand... you know, considering a certain Glyph that should be imprinted into the back of it? So far every shot has them covered up.

Perhaps in the prologue, but yeah, what are they going to do with that? And since no one who's seen the demo's mentioned it as part of when he acquires the Glyphy "Eye" thing and Focus abilities, it's probably not seen around then (unless parts were hidden for the demo's sake, like how Focus couldn't be disabled). If the cutscenes aren't movies, but played out in-engine, I wonder if there will be a model-swap if we don't see it in an intro or outro.

Regarding René, there's nothing secret going on, I just don't wish to detail it all out when it's already played out on two forums in real time over more than a year. In February of René's last months as CM, I, New Horizon, and Morose Troll, the former LGS dev, and I don't how many others, were in touch with René about the Dark Engine source codes. In March, we received the last response from him about it, but he wasn't responding to any more PMs on any topic for several of us (and we mentioned it publicly), he never responded to us (and I don't know how many others) ever again, and he stopped talking with me on Facebook, and he unFriended me without a word, to which the usual particular people here made sport of, rather than realizing the bigger picture of what that meant for EM and the fans for the time and the coming years. From that point on, things were really weird regarding the source code and hearing back from EM. Thankfully, the future had something better for us, but we could not even guess that at the time. But yeah, René just stopped talking with us, but in one of his last messages (December or January?) he calmed our worries over something Stephane D'Astous said, but indicated, and not in his usual easy-going manner, that Stephane couldn't speak for the T4 team, which put a twist on things for us. This did not happen on the boards, and I wanna know what's going to happen with that information, now. I liked René, even without him contacting me and making me the mysterious Point of Contact, sending me a T-shirt and bumper stickers. I want to respect him, thiefessa, but it's all weird with you and you know it, and it did get ugly publicly, not just behind-the-scenes, as more and more odd, baffling, confusing, and malicious things compounded, and all I wanted was to know what the hell was going on. For others here, my username at Eidos is the same here, so Googling the cached pages of the boards will show some of what's been censored since then, or scrambled in thread-merge hell.
Sounds a lot more realistic than your earlier cloak and dagger nonsense post, doesn't it. ;)
However... I can still see the usual big dollop of fantasy seeping through the sentences.
Yes... the to and fros regarding the source code happened... though the part where you say Rene never responded again is no big deal. I mean, he told you it was in the hands of the legal guys, and it was really a matter of waiting. That's it. Everyone had to wait. Surely you understood this?
The situation is exactly the same now with the current CM.
What do you mean when you say Rene made you the mysterious point of contact? In what way were you mysterious and what was the point of contact?
Lots of people communicated with Rene and they all got the same t-shirts and stickers.
If any further confusing, malicious things happened... it had nothing to do with Rene or EM. Unless you can be more specific and pull some real examples out of the hat... I can't help you further.

So what were these worries and what did he say?

Can't wait to hear.

On the subject of the source code, is it safe to assume that Le Corbeau (sorry if I misspell it) who provided us with the new patches for Thief 2, has access to the source code? Lifting the hardcoded limits on poly count, object count, texture size and so on should definitely require it.
Is it then possible, that they cannot release the source code, but out of pity and admiration for the fan community, the ones with the access to it gave us at least these patches? Since there can be no legal huffing and puffing over a mysterious patch provided by a mysterious guy with a french nickname who also speaks french :D

Myth, yes, he (or she?) must have. That is my understanding.
As for the last part of your post, yeah, pretty much I think.

As usual... no reply. :cheeky:

Well I am gonna LAUGH when this game FLOPS! Because if EM are so set on going against what the majority of fans of the game WANT for a voice actor , then what does that say about changing other things like the dracula-ninja thief? It says they could care less about what the fans want and only care about what THEY want. Thus, I think it will FLOP! Don't believe me? Watch and see.
I could care less about buying this game for full price at this point. If I ever do decide to play it, I will NOT be shelling out 60 bucks for a game that is nowhere near the first two thief games. But I will probably buy it in a bargain bin somewhere....and it looks like it will not take long to get there if they keep this up. So I could be playing thief 4 while paying nearly nothing FOR IT! All because the developers wanted to screw with the series.
Great going EM...what a bunch of retards.
