What the heck is all that cloak-and-dagger nonsense about the original CM apparently being silenced and going all cold and unhappy etc etc? :wot:
It's not nonsense, thiefessa. Just because
you weren't directly involved does not make it nonsense. Go ask jtr. A lot of us wondered what was going on at the time because that CM of which jtr speaks seemed so friendly, outgoing, and willing to answer questions. As jtr said, he was a real Thief fan. Then things changed, drastically. And once again we were left in the dark and he left EM.

He saw Stephane Roy murder that hooker. Things went downhill from there.

There was nothing going on though; this is my point. He left EM, yes, but not for any of the nail-biting reasons jtr7 implies.

Yet here you are.
I'm not Stephen Russell.
What the f*ck is your problem?

Ah, nothing, just having fun. I think the ThiefGen haters need to lighten up a bit.

As I said, perhaps you should speak to jtr. He was the one exchanging PMs with the CM. And seriously, do you honestly think we'll believe that you can be objective on any subject concerning EM? Really? I'm sure you're a very nice person in RL, but your objectivity in regards to EM has been noticeably lacking on many occasions. I'm not going to get drawn in to another argument with you, btw. So just send jtr a PM & ask him your questions on the subject directly.
In other news, does anyone know who 'TheReviewsThatMatter' is? Just saw his thread and checked out his video link. Whoever he is, he's definitely a rabid Thief fan. ;)

It is only poor attitude and personal attacks that create arguments... it is quite possible to debate with me all day long without getting enraged or rude.
Nice of you to suggest I ask jtr, thanks - but I don't need to ask jtr7 anything. I was there. That is why I know his post about the CM being silenced and going all cold etc isn't true at all.

One rather supposes that the excess swearing, apparently in the absence of anything tangible to say, indicates that his defining characteristic is immaturity and rabid fanaticism. Who he is is... inconsequential, because he, like his method of expression, is inconsequential and vapid as a starling's fart.

If kids that play Thief IV like an action game use focus points to conquer thine foes, what would happen if say, the focus points ran out at some point, hopefully quickly, and then the player is left to face the rest of the Mission without superpowers. Then it plays out "like old Thief" (as best as it surely feebily will be able to) where you must actually sneak or hopefully die. That could be a cool way to show younger players that the flash is cool, but after the thrill is gone, we *did* craft an actual game for you, hopefully deserving of replay.
Still, if there is no option for a 100% 1st person experience, forget it, and that means *no* borked hacked in controls man, just smooth 1st person operation!
But anyway, read (

Okay, that's the bit I was looking for.
Regarding René, there's nothing secret going on, I just don't wish to detail it all out when it's already played out on two forums in real time over more than a year. In February of René's last months as CM, I, New Horizon, and Morose Troll, the former LGS dev, and I don't how many others, were in touch with René about the Dark Engine source codes. In March, we received the last response from him about it, but he wasn't responding to any more PMs on any topic for several of us (and we mentioned it publicly), he never responded to us (and I don't know how many others) ever again, and he stopped talking with me on Facebook, and he unFriended me without a word, to which the usual particular people here made sport of, rather than realizing the bigger picture of what that meant for EM and the fans for the time and the coming years. From that point on, things were really weird regarding the source code and hearing back from EM. Thankfully, the future had something better for us, but we could not even guess that at the time. But yeah, René just stopped talking with us, but in one of his last messages (December or January?) he calmed our worries over something Stephane D'Astous said, but indicated, and not in his usual easy-going manner, that Stephane couldn't speak for the T4 team, which put a twist on things for us. This did not happen on the boards, and I wanna know what's going to happen with that information, now. I liked René, even without him contacting me and making me the mysterious Point of Contact, sending me a T-shirt and bumper stickers. I want to respect him, thiefessa, but it's all weird with you and you know it, and it did get ugly publicly, not just behind-the-scenes, as more and more odd, baffling, confusing, and malicious things compounded, and all I wanted was to know what the hell was going on. For others here, my username at Eidos is the same here, so Googling the cached pages of the boards will show some of what's been censored since then, or scrambled in thread-merge hell.
