This is pretty much a bingo card's worth of elitist nonsense. "Generic-voice-for-the-masses?" What the
hell does that even
mean? How is a voice "for the masses?" Or are you just hitting the familiar buzzwords so you can feel smart?
I think its perfectly valid. In my opinion 'for the masses', a young ninja-garret is more appealing to newcomers and mainstream rather than the old grumpy garret.

No you don't. You are not the emperor of ThiefGen, stop presuming to speak for anyone except your own damn self. Jesus that's gotten old.
That's why he said "I" and not "we" when he spoke.

You rarely know what anyone's actually talking about, dethy. You demonstrate it when you don't declare it. Several people, including myself, keep telling you you misunderstand. Yet, you feel qualified and oh-so-educated, brain the size of a planet, to be judge, jury--and if you had your way--executioner of the ideas of others.
You want everyone to conform to your rules, yet break every one of them yourself.
You call people retards and a bunch of other grade-school insults filtered through a thesaurus, yet berate them as though you can force the change. If the people are retards, what does it say about you that you keep yelling at them? What does it say about a person who kicks people while they are down, for that matter? Make up your mind. You are flailing at what can't be changed. No one can help you to get what you want if it's not just to grief people.
What bothers you ain't going away. I say "we" 'cause anyone paying attention knows there are more than one you are attacking with the same nonsense. "Emperor?" Is that why you find me so threatening? You think I have that much power or think that highly of myself? :laff:
ThiefGen is more than one person, and you threadsh***ers keep lumping in non-ThiefGen fora into your gross stereotypes, so when addressing how you insult all those people, including myself, it's not a Royal "We" to talk about everyone you despise and define in the plural.
Meanwhile, if you don't mind, we'd like to get back to a regular geeky fun.

No Stephen Russell doesn't just mean no Garrett, it also means no Benny.
You know, I own 4 copies of TDP, 2 of TG, 5 of TMA and 4 of TDS. This one? Taff it.

No Benny/Dumb Guard/Sinclair, ninny servant, flustered Elder Hammerite, and no Garrett. (I wouldn't expect Karras or Raoul, of course, and pretty much hardly noticed all the commoners he voiced).
Rest In Peace.

Erm, did Eidos Monty even mention who's voicing him since the latest trailer came out ?
I liked the trailer (and especially the demasking in shadows bit at the end), but the lack of Russel is certainly disappointing. Frankly, even if they keep the current voice actor for Garrett (is he the permanent one ?), I'd have to hear a lot more from him to be sure he can fit the character's usual charisma and snarkiness, etc. Those few lines from the trailer just aren't enough, I'd have to hear the guy's VO in action first to get a good impression. He does seem to have a slight accent, though (mildly Quebecois, apparently).

Hopefully we won't have to wait long to find out who voiced the narration, and if he's even the actor for the game. :)
TheDorkProject on 2/4/2013 at 07:23
If they really aren't using Russell, and we can't get them to provide an alternate Russell voice pack...
then the fallback Plan C should be putting in Garrett voice clips from the previous 3 games (as best as can be done) if such editing is possible on Thief 4.

I'm on the fence about the whole thing.
I liked the trailer, I liked Garrett's tone of narration and the colour of the VO's voice.
It's just the slight accent that distracted me. Either they've hired local talent, or it's just one of the devs pulling a SlyFoxx. (:cheeky:)
Honestly, I don't know. But I'll certainly be interested in another announcement, especially if it will tell us something more about the voice actors for some of the major characters, including the lead.

Yeah. It's a wait-and-see situation, but the sooner we know the better.
