There has to be a way.

Yeah, have to agree this guy sound rather wimpy - like he probably would have ran away
(like most of us) from The Cradle - but not Garrett... :sly:
Would guesstimate Stephen's still pretty busy with the (
http://www.what.org/about/what-leadership/) WHAT
(Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theatre) & may have actually turned them down anyway
(doubt EM would confirm that though). Still have to say I was so stoked when I heard Mr G in the first Bioshock Infinite trailer though.
Quote:
In addition, WHAT will host a summer music festival on Tuesday and Wednesday nights in July and a comedy festival on the same nights in August as well as its children's show, traditionally directed and produced by Stephen Russell.

I've always wondered if Stephen's foray into feature films and getting his Screen Actors' Guild union card might keep him busy, as he's less involved with WHAT in any overt way anymore, but I think EM just wants to employ as many Montréal Canadians as possible.

I am unable to find an official site for Stephen Russel. Does anyone know if he has one? Would be interesting to get a response from him about whether or not he's been contacted and asked to voice Garrett by EM and if he turned it down.
jtr7 on 2/4/2013 at 05:53
He doesn't have his own site. To contact him you have to go through affiliated sites. Last we heard, Stephen hadn't been contacted by Eidos-Montreal, but that was also in 2010. I don't know how many people have tried to contact him over the last 6 years, let alone 2, and no one's reported anything, but the one taffer who ran into him and asked.

I thought the same thing when I watched the video. With a character like Garrett who remains hidden in the shadows, his voice is his main identifier. The actor in the trailer was obviously not Stephen Russell, and didn't sound anything like the familiar character of Garrett. I hope this is just a fill-in actor for the trailer, because replacing his voice with a more generic-for-the-masses voice would be a bad move on EM's part, in my opinion.
This is pretty much a bingo card's worth of elitist nonsense. "Generic-voice-for-the-masses?" What the
hell does that even
mean? How is a voice "for the masses?" Or are you just hitting the familiar buzzwords so you can feel smart?

Before I can make up my mind about this new voice actor (I'm still hoping they will use Russell in the end) I will have to hear him deliver some classic Garrett lines with dark humour and sarcasm. That isn't really the actor's fault tought rather it is up to EM to give him such lines and let us hear them.

No need to explain yourself to someone who's mantra is "What does that even mean?!?" The rest of us know where you're coming from.

No you don't. You are not the emperor of ThiefGen, stop presuming to speak for anyone except your own damn self. Jesus that's gotten old.
