You're a bit late... plus EM have officially released the trailer now. :)

Ah I see then, if Garratt is the protegonist and he isnt voiced by Stephen Russell then this will be the begining of the end for the thief series as far eidos are concerned. And by that I mean this will be the last will possibly be the very last thief game I buy, if at all. That said, just because a trailer has one voice dosent mean it will be that person in the game. Look at what happened with BSI when SR did the vocals for that trailer. perhaps we should start a petition over on the Eidos forum to get SR reinstated, I mean what are they thinking...!? Christ, if we cant have SR then atleast get FFox, as he is far better than the guy in the above trailer.

I thought the same thing when I watched the video. With a character like Garrett who remains hidden in the shadows, his voice is his main identifier. The actor in the trailer was obviously not Stephen Russell, and didn't sound anything like the familiar character of Garrett. I hope this is just a fill-in actor for the trailer, because replacing his voice with a more generic-for-the-masses voice would be a bad move on EM's part, in my opinion.

If the voice-actor's Canadian, and hails specifically from Montréal, then I know why it's not Stephen Russell in the trailer.

How is a voice "for the masses"? It's not like he sounds like a gruff badass like Duke Nukem or anything.
No, he doesn't sound exactly like Russell, but it's obvious the guy playing Garrett this go round took more than a few cues from him for the character.

Kinda sorta maybe.

The acting is aping Russell's style pretty well. It's not perfect, but it's pretty damn close. To me, if Russell's voicework was Garrett aged 35-40, this new guy sounds like Garrett in his early-mid 20's.
Compare and contrast:

We need an anthem: No Russel, No Sale.

I'm holding out hope that this will be a reversal of what happened with Bioshock Infinite.
Remember how the first trailer(s) for Bioshock Infinite had Stephen Russell voicing Booker DeWitt? He was filling in until they got their actual actor cast and recorded.
I'm hoping that this time he's the one being filled in for.
Cross your fingers this is the case.
Otherwise, we should see if Eidos Montreal would allow us to do a kickstarter or something for whatever Russell's fee would be, and see if they'd release a Russell voice pack as part of the "classic mode" or whatever I believe they've said is in the game.
This isn't the sort of thing we can just let happen if there is ANYTHING we can do about it. Stephen Russell has been so good to us fans by providing such great work in the 3 Thief games so far... and he is integral to the character... we owe it to him in return to at least make some sort of effort to contact Eidos Montreal, see if they'd let us pay his fee... and maybe they could have it be a purchasable DLC or something.
There has to be a way.
