Thief 4 will be awesome because... - by jay pettitt

Oh my! I had seen the presentation slides but never heard that bit of audio. That's amazing, and way more complex than what I was ready to credit him for at first. Paul Weir's work is exactly the kind of innovation I've been expecting in my thread, I'll be gutted if his generative music system doesn't make it in the final game.

Yeah, me too. I'm really looking forward to hearing what he'd set up.
T4 will be awesome...if the screenshots haven't just been cleaned up and the HUD really is as minimal as many of us hoped.
Shown in the screenshot in the first post:

Same as Briareos, I had only seen the slides. I gotta say it sounds really cool, definitely something you could find in Thief.

There's a large Gardner Bakery building in the overhead image of Stone Market with the Clock Tower, next to a SMITH. Can we eat the goods? Fatty Garrett?
God, there's wood walkways/scaffolding and dangling ropes and cords every where! What's going on in Stone Market?
Also, Thief 4 will be awesome because:
(

And to address the point about people who might be wanting Thief to be the "same, same, same"? Not I, I say! I want it to have more in common with all the Thief games than any other single game in existence, but not the same! Evolved, progressed, smarter, not condescending to me, not bloated or blunted from trying to please too many who never cared before! The fabric of that universe without technical restraint! But different than everything else in a purely Thiefy way!

Thief 4 will be awesome because...
.... there isn't anything I've seen or heard that I dislike, so far.

It's not easy to find something to like either, "so far".

Aww, I feel for you. Its a damn shame you can't find anything to like, so far. :D

Unfortunately, very true...A ninja Garrett, with badass chain-attack moves, isn't what most THIEF fans wanted.

Of course...it must be some kind of personal thing...and nothing to do with the fact that most of the community feels the same way, for obvious reasons.
It's a damn shame you're so out of touch with that.
...and I see that makes you super happy...:erm:

Of course its a personal thing; no need to state the obvious.
MOST of the community? Yourself and a few others you mean? Who is out of touch? :cheeky:
I read many forums discussing the game and the majority seem very positive. Don't you read other forums?
Hey, I am always super happy. Just the way I live my life. I'm not sorry it makes you mad. :ebil:

Gotta love the shameless promotion. I read many boards and the majority of users on them (/v/, RPGCodex, the original thread on NeoGAF, reddit (I know, I know) to name the biggest) have been stomping this game to the ground repeatedly. The RPGCodex thread on Thief has 39 pages where users bash the game, now tell me this is warm reception. The only place where I've seen good reception is on GI, and even then some users dislike what they see. No, the reaction is definitely hostile.
