With all the articles, videos, and details visible in the many images, why are people still saying what they did when the blurry photo was leaked, and again when the storyboards were leaked, and again when the trailer clip was leaked, that there are only a couple of images, not enough to assess anything?
I myself havent seen anything yet about Thief IV. Not a single official picture and I dont want to, yet. I have nothing but the highest hopes for whatever comes of this, just like I did when I was hoping for what I thought would be a masterful Thief III. I personally want to hear what people are saying about it first and so far based upon what Ive heard, there is potential here. I hope they make this game dark, gritty, and downright evil. Unfortunately for me, it probably wont be a game I would ever want to play myself, as it would have to be a real masterpiece. That is to say if it wasnt a stripped down, first person immersive sim like I want it to be. It will probably end up being this huge overblown environment with no memorable connection for the classic gamer. It is good that new people interested in video games will surely come here at some point, and we will have that chance to introduce them to the game that started it all. Perhaps even persuade a few to join the cult of the 7 legions of almighty undercover fanship sect of the Cloister. So please, join us. Join us, NOW!

I don't think you all get exactly what Azaran is saying. Either that, or you're all taking it too literally. He's not talking about engines specifically. Of course Dark isn't going to have the exact same AI routines as a UDK title.
And since when is AI engine based? It's all scripting and algorithms. You could just as easily put the AI from TDP in to FEAR or Deus Ex or Doom as put it in nu-Thief.

Yep, that was my point.
There is no correlation between the engines or the name of the games. The AI could be capable of anything.

Personally, I never saw much Gothic going on in ol' Thief. Maybe more in TDS, but that's why we have skin mods.

Which reminds me of TSX. The beginning of that FM is superb!:thumb:

Neither did I. It was was Romanesque with a lot of industrial steel and Victorian was mixed in later on.
The steampunk was a bit on the noir side, though. It's a bit of a stretch, but I can see how they could be confused, if you used 'gothic' as a synonym for 'dark'.

Ah yes. Good point! Victorian era for sure with steampunk in T2. Gothic came along side Thief 3 and now (since DE:HR did it) the Thief series is going for a modern era. Perhaps.........1700s? Which would NOT surpirse me at all since most of the Devs on the team were on Assassins Creed. I hope it's not another, "PRESS X TO NOT DIE" or "PRESS X TO KILL THE BAD GUY!" kind of DDR bullcrap. :grr:
