Except from what we've seen, the crowbar doesn't appear to be an inventory item that the player consciously uses; it seems to be a context-sensitive animation that just pops up automatically when you are in the right spot. It's a nice bit of colour, granted, but there's no indication it is a gameplay element.
I do like the idea of a "throwable" inventory category, however. It gives the player more options and makes junk more useful.

Excitement and dread in equal measure. That is all.

That is a good point. Let's say then that I like the idea of it, not the current implementation.

"Thief" (air quotes intentional) will be awesome because I get 40xp for headshots.

If it's a decent game and does well on the sales side there is a chance the franchise will be passed to a studio in the future that is more invested in bringing the feel of the original series forward and they'll be under less pressure to broaden the appeal to revive a series previously on life support if moving the series forward into a new generation proves successful. Hopefully even if this game isn't everything we want it to be it's strong sales will give the next game the chance to be closer to what we want.

Not sure I follow this logic. If T4 is a success, EM would likely do a sequel and it would be more or less a copy of the game that was released. The only way the Thief franchise gets passed to another studio is if T4 bombs and they decide to give someone else a chance to revive it. Trust me, EM won't mess with success, if T4 sells, T5 will follow quickly and be the same basic game.

I'd have to believe that if this next game bombs the franchise is more or less done for, though. I guess I was thinking more along the lines of Fallout 3 vs Fallout New Vegas. Both were successful games released (in game development time) near to each other and both developed by different studios - the second (arguably) a much better game with the changes that were made by the second studio.

So did thiefessa get banned? Or is she just using that phrase under her name? Her name is red in color also while the others are blue in color, don't know if that means anything. Just wondering.

I think she's banned. I don't know what triggered it exactly, but I'm guessing it was a buildup of stuff she was posting
