Here's a copy/paste from a comment I made on Facebook to an upset friend. I + Friend = We or Us:
Quote:
The game is now called a 1st-Person game, and we're trying to sort out exactly when 3rd-person will be forced on us. The Focus ability is supposed to be optional, but we can't yet say if we will ever feel handicapped for ignoring it at times. The game can be played without killing anyone, but we don't yet know if the non-lethal attacks are brutal and heavy-handed all the time, but the best thing we've heard for non-lethal playthroughs is that Thief[4] may be the first Thief title ever that allows Ghosting playstyles all the way through! I'm not a ghoster, but knowing the game can be ghosted means I can be as sneaky as I want! I've always wanted a Thief sequel to be about a corruption of the Barony, and possibly martial law in place, and we got that. For people who hate zombies, it looks like there are none or very little. For people who never liked the magic, it looks like they get their way. There are other promising sounding things, but I don't know enough to say I'm happy about them, yet.
A lot of the good news is hopeful but tainted with bad, and no one can honestly, factually, tell me the concerns are unfounded until the devs say it and it's true.

Whatever you do in life, don't become a call centre dude for the Samaritans.

Basso's back.

"From here, being a master thief, what it means - he's a shadowy figure, skilled in stealth and infiltration. Intelligent - Garrett is really intelligent, he thinks about what he's doing. Solitary - don't have a lot of friends.
Basso [from Thief 2] would be the best one - he's also a side-quest giver. Manually dexterous. Agile. All those things that on our side we wanted to empower Garrett - his agility counter from the previous games - it's a lot of things like that we wanted to push. The survivor feeling - when he's coming back to The City, it is his city, you want to save it at some point. That's what makes him also a hero."
Apart from learning that Basso is involved and scraping a few loose plot morsels from the game demo, there wasn't a huge amount of narrative detail to take away from our day of presentations...
It's a shame they took the character and turned him into a cliche. Basso's retired from lockpicking and safecracking--gone "legit" to be exact--but now he's an informant we get quests from (he should be a fence, then)? Will we learn more about his sister and his wife Jenivere? Maybe Jenivere was killed by the plague! That could explains things. If it's not another example of taking a pronoun and repurposing the character behind the name, I don't yet know about this. The side-quests thing is a shame, though. Glad Basso's back, but maybe not like this.

But its not sequel so you can't make those Basso assumptions.
Do you think Garrett will get to bang Basso's sister this time?

The more stuff you gather to decorate your hideout, the less she'll be clothed.

If Basso is in the game, he could be one of those 'revolutionists' that was mentioned by GI?

That'd be good though I don't see it as a trade up from Viktoria. I bet Viktoria had... skills.

Viktoria the wood nymph.
Speculations aren't assumptions, just like disappointment, frustration, dislike, and disability aren't "hate". Asking questions is not making statements. Inquiring is not jumping to conclusions. :weird:
Asking if Garrett might bang Basso's sister could be assumption she's in the game, but it's not, is it? Besides, it's Sophie's choice.
