These people aren't happy to be working on this project since the industry in Canada is going to pot, and it's hard enough to find work right now without having the biggest title on your resume be a trainwreck so huge that it killed a studio.
I'm just sad that the Studio and "DeusEX:HR dev team" will have to suffer on account of the in-efficiency, mismanagement and downright incompetence of the THI4F dev team. Would be a shame not to let the DX:HR team have a go at a proper sequel. What a monumental waste!
Nu-THI4F should never have been "the big title". It should have been a cheap "slam dunk" title re-using DX:HR's engine. That would have allowed them to create a pure niche stealth experience and still recoup their investment.

I wholeheartedly wish them good luck, because they're really going to need it to get a minimum of sales with this title. It's not like it grabed a huge attention after all

Could the setting be any more generic?
They're doing their best to not create the unique world experience of THIEF.

Also, the game looked so freaking bad during E3 there's no way it can be released in February 2014.
With the size of the team, yes they can...not that it will be finished as it should, but there are other factors to consider.

And, if it's possible, Romano Orzari sounds even worse in this than in any of the previous trailers. He sounds like he just rolled out of bed after a three-day smirnoff bender.
Yes, Romano's voice work is once again, disappointing...and unrepresentative of Garrett...This aspect will greatly diminish the world experience.

Could you get a more Assassins Creed style manufactured environment? The walkways are clearly there for the player, not the citizens, because having 3 tiers of rickety external scaffolding around your house makes zero sense. This shows up repeatedly throughout the trailer, indicating it's an endemic design choice. :nono:
Yes...The contrived, generic approach of world design is congruent with the prescribed, contextual gameplay approach...All of this is generated from a homogenized, non-emergent, core design philosophy.

According to the grapevine, the release date is so soon because they've been given an ultimatum from Square Enix and were denied any further extensions on development time or funding. If you waste money on this, expect something Colonial Marines levels of unfinished.
I have heard the same from an industry friend, as well...Although unlikely, it is still possible that EM could receive a short extension, if they can make a proper case for it.

Yes, indeed.

Looks like they are going for character drama. Predictable.

Ok, who wants to speculate on the "In my dreams I see her dying" line?
(
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3_NgBhgCec) Clearly NuGarrett is a Hair Metal fan.
It's the only rational explanation.
Nuth on 17/8/2013 at 01:14
Nah, in the past Garrett has always shoplifted his masks from The Well-appointed Thief store. Now that he's of a much more stylish bent, he's dreaming of her getting the color just right for his new custom mask and knows that it will cost him some serious coin. That's why he follows up wth the line about never paying the price until now.

Not a chance.
Hair Metal also explains the eye makeup.

What does *anything* about this trailer have to do with sneaking of any kind?

I liked the art direction too. It's as least as lush as Dishonored. I wish I could map with assets like that. I'll suspend judgment on the story for now.
And I'd argue against the idea that environment and world building weren't important in the originals and they were only about gameplay. Spending time making the world breath is worthwhile, and we have a better chance now with the available tech.
That said, poor gameplay could really take the wind out of the setting too.

A new version of Viktoria is likely to be the romantic interest but after Geneviere the pet bird it could just as likely be Lauryl, or the Hag, or Benny.
What's more Constantine will be the Baron driving canon purists into a frothing rage and to "take onboard fan concerns" they'll name the guy in the trailer whipping up the people's revolutionary fervour Karras.
Ideally the romantic interest will be Zaya from Thief2X as a respectful nod to the community that kept Thief going during the last decade and Benny will be the Baron...because dammit he deserves it! Nobody pushes the Baron Around!!!
Anyway you have to be wary of any game trailer that is purely FMV; think of the first videogames you ever played; would you have brought the game based on the scrolling 16-bit textual introduction?
