Well, an official date has been announced, and it's way sooner than I would have thought. Any complaints anyone has about his game will probably fall on deaf ears at this point, as the game is likely almost complete.
Get ready to play some Thief 4 on: February 25th, 2014
I haven't even watched the trailer yet (I'm at work), but I figured I'd post it for the reast of y'all.

I'm confused. The Lord Regent comes back from the dead, Sokolov is apparently running the resistance, and Corvo, still grieving over the Empress, has developed a fetish for stealing stuff from women who kinda look like her.

Could the setting be any more generic? What if they spent that money required to make these fancy trailers (featuring lazy voice acting, terrible writing and recycled scenes) on the game to make it actually decent instead?
Also, the game looked so freaking bad during E3 there's no way it can be released in February 2014.

Hell will freeze over and the Devil will give free sleigh rides if this 'pre-alpha' game releases in February of 2014. No way that date doesn't get pushed back.
And, if it's possible, Romano Orzari sounds even worse in this than in any of the previous trailers. He sounds like he just rolled out of bed after a three-day smirnoff bender.

Nice, just in time for my birthday too. There's my birthday present sorted then. :p
... or not, because I doubt that it'll run very well on my computer, and the recent news about the gameplay flaws (if they really are as bad as they sound) have made the new Thief fall from the "day one purchase" category to the "will buy when/if I have a computer that is able to run the game" category anyway. Still, it'll be very interesting to see how the game turns out, and I'll most likely get my hands on it at some point.

Not that I doubt it, but what do you base that on? I mean, we really don't know how far they are along behind the scenes at EM.

Common knowledge. At E3, the devs (and Eidos moderators) went to great pains to (
http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=138032) repeatedly chant that Thief 4 is pre-alpha, and that it was a work-in-progress. Then there's all the members of the press that have (
http://www.vg247.com/2013/06/17/new-thief-4-details-emerge-out-of-e3-showing/) described Thief 4 as 'pre-alpha' as recently as mid-June.
I poo-pooed the idea, too. Because it seems very far along. But this is straight from the horse's mouth. (among other orifices)

I liked it. The writing was less clumsy this time, though that voice actor does remind me a little bit of the Outsider. :p
If the art in the game is actually like the art in this it will certainly look great. The E3 demos, despite all the mechanical issues, do actually
look nice.
Whilst I don't think this will be a worthy successor it has potential to get some things right. I still think we should do a TDM campaign though.

Lol. Yes, very good.
I'm playing Brigmore Witches at the moment and I'm really, really enjoying the rooftop shenanigans. It's a shame it's not at night though! Well, maybe not - there is a place for night and day missions, but I do like the look of the Thief streets in this trailer. If it can translate to the game... Alas, I doubt they will have such vertical exploration as in Dishonored.

Ok, who wants to speculate on the "In my dreams I see her dying" line?
I rolled my eyes a bit at the "The city's changed; I've changed" line. For a complete reboot, it sure sounded like they were trying to imply a sequel.

Well, I wasn't planning on a PC upgrade until mid next year, so looks like I'll be playing this one (initially) on my PS3.
Somehow, that seems appropriate.
