Thief 4 is a prime example of all (or most) of the reasons why I hate modern games - by FatSpy

Splinter Cell 1/2/3 are [among] my all time favorites
Splinter Cell is:
1. a console port,
2. using streamlined and controller-friendly controls.
Metro 2033 has much less hand-holding than any of the Splinter Cell games.

Honestly if you go back and play the first 2 splinter cells they are kinda bad.
They where extremely linear and would sometimes throw bullshit at you like in the first splinter cell theres a point where you need to fight off like 6 guards and protect 2 separate groups of hostages in separate rooms at the same time, for a stealth game this was absolute bullshit. You had turrets you could setup but they where too weak to rely on because the guards would just run through and ignore all the damage and get to the hostages anyways.
Choas theory was the one that stood out with its epic music and shit.

The one thing that turned me off about Splinter Cell, besides the linearity anyway, was how the game would autofail you at certain points if you didn't hide a body just so. It's like you could take everyone out in a building, but because that one guy you hid behind the stairwell has a foot sticking out roughly 3mm beyond what the game considers "hidden", it'd automatically give you a game over the moment you crossed an invisible line.
I hated that so much.

Dark Souls 1 is one of the best games I've ever played. If you want a hardcore old-school game that is incredibly punishing yet also soo rewarding, play it. You must!

The first one was bad for that, but I don't remember if subsequent games had that issue. I don't remember feeling frustrated like I did in the first game when playing later iterations. Its easy to see why Chaos Theory is held to be the best of the series.

I have it, I just need to get a gamepad first.

I found "The Symbol" in two of the screenshots.

The sad thing is that the screen shots actually make the game look like it has potential, but I still need to beat dishonored before I want another watered down stealth game.

Before you slag Dishonored completely, I'd suggest playing the first expansion at the very least. Stealth was a little too easy in the original game thanks to blink, but in Knife of Dunwall, it doesn't do a damn thing to make your life any simpler.
