Don't even pretend for a second that wouldn't be the most awesome thing ever.

Yep, and best of all, it would involve absolutely no magic, mysticism, or even the supernatural.
:p
Although I'm having a hard time picturing NuGarrett burping a baby burrick.

He'd be very sardonic about it, and almost hating himself.

That would be great, because now everything would be easy to know and understand...I want a virtual universe that matches my own limited Earth-bound conditioning, instead of having an integrated metaphysical system that dimensionalizes mystery, wonder, and dynamic possibilities.

At least the old Garrett would. Don't know about NuGarrett.

Yeah, let's keep it simple, with the action sequences & automatic switches to 3rd person abounding for those who don't want to take the time to learn and remember the control key set-up (God forbid you go have lunch & to the bathroom, come back and realize you've forgotten the control set-up, right?). I mean really, you wouldn't want to have 'an integrated metaphysical system' totally complicating a simple plot and getting in the way of your parkouring and speed-running through the City now, would you? Honestly, one might have to learn some new control keys if EM included such nonsense and how could one's brain possibly hold all that extraneous information. Why, the controls would then become absolutely obfuscatory.

Ok, I looked it up. CO2 is actually only useful on flammable liquids, because it chokes fires to death without cooling them down that much. So it won't cool burning solids enough to have them not just re-ignite when it disperses. It might work on oil lamps or gas lamps I guess. So yes, not only have replaced a unique and interesting system with a more boring one that raises more questions than it answers (who is providing the cooling tech to make dry ice? How is it transported? Won't pressurised arrows weigh a goddamn ton?) but it turns out they have actually replaced it with a system that wouldn't really work. Doesn't really matter if the game is good... heh. Well, fingers crossed I guess.
Nuth on 2/5/2013 at 21:53
Are they dry ice or just CO2 under pressure? I was thinking they might be more like the CO2 cartridges used to inflate bike tires or power pellet guns but breakable so they release the gas all at once and just blow out the torch. I don't know if that could realistically put out much of a fire either though.

I can't believe they are doing this.
I demand to know the chemical formula for the gas in the gas mines. Email me the specifications of all bladed weapons in the game, including alloy composition, balance mechanics, all stress calculations, method of production etc. DO NOT forget to supply explicit details about the tempering processes plz mmmhhm k?
Nuth on 2/5/2013 at 21:59
Well, they did say they wanted a more realistic, believable Thief. In for a penny, in for a pound.
Vivian on 2/5/2013 at 22:10
On the other hand SJ, assuming they replaced the water crystal arrows with dry ice to make it more believable, why didn't they do the minimal research I just did and pick something that would actually work? Something like, I dunno, WATER. Like I said, doesn't matter if the games still good, but if its an attempt to make the tech more plausible, it's a stupid one.
