This game has already been written off by most here as a terrible game that pisses all over the Thief legacy before any actual gameplay footage has even been released.
I'm not enthusiastic about the third person stuff and the lack of any support for fan mission creation but the extremes people are going to already with almost no evidence of how the game actually plays is astounding. Then again nothing short of Looking Glass being brought back from the dead and being given infinite resources and development time is going to keep some here from running around shouting that the sky is falling.
The negative hivemind mentality makes most of these treads hard to read.

I don't have high hopes for the third person stuff as I'm not a fan of it in most action games and if it does look really silly then you'll have your "I told you so" moment - but until then I'm going to hold off on the weather predictions until I get some more accurate information on the upcoming storm, so to speak.

It's the fourth game in the Thief series, so calling it Thief 4 makes perfect sense to me. Just like referring to
Thief: Deadly Shadows as
Thief 3.
Whether it's a good game or not is irrelevant - it

No, you would call it Thief (reboot), Thief 2014, or even THIEF. Actually, it could very well be referred to a "Thief" since the previous games had longer titles.
But it's not the fourth game in the Original Thief "series".
Not just like T: DS as T3, since that one was just renamed for the console, and it actually was the third part of the series.
Was that last sentence directed at me? I didn't say it was good or bad.
