I mean, kinda. It's exactly like being a little disappointed no-one said 'drokk' in the new Dredd film. It's not that big a deal, but it would be nice, and it takes precisely zero effort to include.
Oh hey, I don't really have anything constructive to say discussion wise, just wanted to say hi to a fellow Dredd fan :)

Hey! Yeah, kinda lapsed since 2004-ish as it seemed the writing was just taking a nosedive it wasn't going to recover from (and there is only so much David Bishop a man can stomach, plus Dredd/Aliens crossovers, too much Henry Flint in general, urgh). I'm certain I've missed a lot of good stuff in the interim, been meaning to give it another go. Any highlights you'd recommend?

I was a Dredd fan back in the day. The new film is really good actually. Skillfully brutal, solid meaty.

Yeah, I loved it. Aside from the lack of made-up swearwords (although as I think you pointed out, SE, Drokk is written on a wall somewhere), and a bit too much focus on the grim-badass side of Dredd, it was awesome. Making it semi-relevant to the issue in hand, I don't hang around the 2000AD fansites much, what was the fan-tard reaction?

Uhh I can't really comment on anything that 2000AD has been doing, as I'm not in Britain and don't have access to that. But if you're looking to get back into it I'm really enjoying the new series from IDW, which has present Dredd doing stuff, and another comic series about Dredd's first year, (again not sure what storylines 2000AD had going so it might be the usual crap from your perspective.) Year One: City Fathers novel by Matthew Smith was alright I thought, bit predictable but it was good regardless. I also think they're doing a comic sequel to the movie?? That's about it I think.

Are we seriously worried about whether a made up swear word is going to be used by the NPCs in this game? Is that how nitpicky this has become?
It changes the tone of the game quite a bit. The original games had a humorous, slightly over-the-top feel. Taking away the made up swear-words and changing them to real swear words takes away some of the magic of the original Thief games. It makes the new Thief feel unnecessarily edgy.
Then again, the new Garrett is unnecessarily edgy as well, so I guess it fits.

There were real swear-words in the old games! Bloody, damn, etc. Inference seems to be that the swearing in the new one is more along these lines that it is Joe Pesci in Goodfellas.
